I think it is quite interesting that Nike decided to include Bowerman's quote about shoes on their Alphafly 3 proto box. The quote says, "A shoe must be three things. It must be light, comfortable, and it's got to go the distance." Without a doubt this is a stab at Adidas and the Evo 1 (only good for one race or whatever), but I think the quote is ironic regardless. We all know Nike keeps in mind the durability of a shoe when making it. If they really engineered the shoe to last, they would get fewer sales down the line for replacements. I think it is a little shameful of Nike to put this quote on a product that is the direct object of planned obsolescence.
