what athletes have been coached by either to western states and utmb wins?
They have had two Western States champions I think Clare Gallagher Wser winner, Cat Bradley Wser winner. I stand corrected about UTMB. I don’t think they have winners rather a bunch of top 5 folks.
Clare Gallagher and Cat Bradley both won western states. Clare also won CCC. Eli Hemming is a stud in the golden trail series, always in the mix amongst top Europeans and Africans. They’ve also specifically had quite a bit of success with coaching women who have struggled with REDS and may be lower mileage (more xt).
In general the Roches seem to be really good coaches if you can handle their over the top positivity. They’re not for everyone but I think it’s a great fit for Allie O. I think they also coached Grayson Murphy when she was preparing for the Olympic trials, so idk if I’d say she’s totally done with the track with this move.
Dude churns through so many athletes he needs to keep replenishing. Body yard all throughout America.
I mean better than Jason Koop and CTS who charges over 1000 a month lmao for what?
$1000 a month for coaching an anorexic trail runner who keeps getting pelvic fractures. Is she still running, or did he finally “coach” her on how to get enough calories? Great coach , he should make way more.
Sure, in one article he said that recovery times after intervals don’t matter. 2x 1 mile w 800 jog or 100 jog? same same for him apparently. Does he seem to care about running and the people he coaches? Sure. I think there are much more knowledgeable coaches out there, though.

Mid 30s is kid? Don’t we all have a lot to learn? You know unless you reach a point of no longer learning than you may want to do something else than coach.
LRC where garbage posters think all coaches are garbage and only they know best. It is pretty much the same as the average football fan that somehow thinks they are a coaching genius.

Being happy as an athlete is fundamental before anything else can be achieved. If she's happiest with this coach, then that might be her best shot at achieving anything elite in any discipline. In other words, what it would take to be track-focused would make her too unhappy to be successful.
.
Also, Max King ran only trails for years and still got 5th at the Oly Trials in 2016 (I think it was 2016) for the Steeple. He did "a few track sessions" and went for it. Allie focusing on trails could have a very positive impact on her Steeple running.

I think the biggest part of the training environment is being happy there. And, like you said, if Allie can handle (or appreciates, as she might) the endless sappy positivity, then maybe RocheLand is the place for her. I’ve thought multiple times of working with Roche, but I wouldn’t be able to handle the rah rah aspect (it’s like the Lake Wobegon of running: everyone’s above average because everyone’s a LEGEND). No.
I think Koop is probably the better coach, but I’m not yet willing to invest financially at that level.
I don’t love Kevin Beck, but Googled him and Roche and came across this gem of an article (it’s long, but so be it, if you have time), which basically hits in one place all the criticisms of Roche’s writing:
