PHOENIX, AZ — The Lord has granted a World Series championship to the Texas Rangers, the one and only Major League Baseball team to not host a Pride Night.
Well, once it became clear that the Yankees, Mets, and Red Sox weren't going to make the postseason, I don't think any result would've made Fox or MLB truly happy.
The Rangers may have won it all anyway, but I think both the MLB and Fox TV wish that Kimbrel and the Phillies had held it together.
It’s not only on Kimbrel. Even with him losing games 3 and 4, the Phillies still had a 3-2 series lead with the advantage of playing the final two games at home. The problem was their offense could only muster a total of 3 runs over those last two games. Diamondbacks pitching shut them down.
Rangers were a much better team than their regular season record showed. They had piles of injuries all season which would then lead to slumping batters and hot and cold pitching as so many players kept coming on and off the DL. They finally were at full strength when the playoffs started and were able to plow through the Orioles and Rays without dropping a game and took the first two games from the Astros. If that team had been healthy most of the season, they would have easily put up over 100 wins.
