oh my god he left. I hope he ends up with The Mike Smith. Having Grivalja, Woody, and Nur to workout with, plus a coach who doesn't have a 'one size fits all' philosophy could be just what he needs to get a medal.
If not, I'd also take AlSal because it would immediately become the most entertaining story in the sport.
Woody might not be happy about Fisher joining, I'm not kidding.
Would be very funny if he went back to Michigan and joined Very Nice and switched to Adidas. That said, probably (and should) join Mike Smith and keep a Nike contract.

Although given the money, recent success of young track athletes, and recent lack of success by American men, I think he should go to the marathon, which would open up more training opportunities. Don't even really need to be with a team.
i trust that grant is a smart guy and has a good idea of what has worked and what hasn't. he is most likely not looking to re-invent the wheel. look at would woody did post bowerman. jakob without gjert. Grant has a good head on his shoulders, and im sure made the decision with clarity.

Doesn't make sense to switch to the marathon in 2024.

The thought crossed my mind, but I don't think it'll be an issue. Grijalva has the same pedigree as Fisher, and he was there when Woody joined.
Assuming Fisher's going there, The Mike Smith has to be the ultimate running example of "Build it and they will come". He's built the best group in the country for distance runners, first at the collegiate level, and now at the pro level. He's not even able to officially have a group at the pro level. On Coffee Club a couple months ago, one of the guys was saying Smith told them to stop calling it a group, because it wasn't a group, it was just a "collection of athletes". But he has the women's 1500m national champ, men's 5k and 10k national champs, and a guy who's gotten 4th at Worlds 2 years in a row.
I can't believe someone so smart is doing something so destructive to his future performance and earnings. Good thing Evan did not leave after he got injured the first time.
