Can you try to remain civil? Clearly, you are unusually fond of Asher-Smith, but the subtle point is that many qualified athletes missed out on selection for the recent World Championships, and hearing Asher-Smith spouting off yet again on her Instagram without any thought for the athletes who were left behind and praising the individual behind those decisions is rather tone deaf. By exactly the same reasoning as was applied this year to last year's World Championships 110m Hurdles 5th placer Joshua Zeller, Asher-Smith would certainly be left off the Olympic squad next year, as she finished last in the World Championships 100m Final. She hasn't been reliable in relays in recent years either. Yes of course she has been injured, but so have other athletes who have been left behind.
I'm being slightly facetious, as its obvious from my post that I don't believe in leaving talented, qualified athletes behind, but you are so obsessed with defending any criticism of Asher-Smith that you missed the rest of my post and took it as literally as possible.
Its also noticeable that Asher-Smith is permitted by UK Athletics to have an online platform and presence denied to other athletes by their contracts. Theres little doubt that certain athletes do seem to be treated more favourably than others. Are you suggesting that people should not point this out? Another example was when Andy Vernon was left out of the team because distance runners were that year only required to run the qualifying time twice. Or when Steph Reed was given unusual opportunities to qualify for the Olympic 10000m. Daryll Neita has ran better than Asher-Smith this year but its always Asher-Smith interviewed by the BBC. I think its fair criticism in view of her recent disappointing results and lack of progression that her mental approach might not be helping her be realistic, particularly the mysterious cramps that seem to be affecting her lately. (presumably these are a different issue from the actual hamstring tear injuries).
What does this have to do with the current financial problems? If there is favouritism, unequal treatment, promotion of certain individuals' favourite athletes, then that is probably indicative of ongoing problems within the organisation.
So, would you like to explain why you think evidence based reasoning using comparison is "nonsense" and why you are so invested in Dina Asher-Smith?
