Why not Dubai? Not enough money? Seems like a really fast course.

"Scarred" was the correct term there. As in, his memory of running scarred his confidence.
I would be surprised to see Kipchoge run Boston. Boston is 15 April, and the Olympic Men's Marathon is 10 August - that is a 117 day time period (slightly less than 17 weeks) for him to recover from the brutal pounding caused by the Boston hills and then engage in a decent training block for Paris.
London is 21 April - which provides even less time (slightly less than 16 weeks) for Kipchoge to recover (but is flat).
Tokyo is 3 March - that would make the most sense for him.
Tokyo almost 100%. Easy win agains mediocre competition, confidence building, max recovery…..No chance he and Kiptum race in London before Paris.
Is Tokyo even eligible for a world record?, it has a lot of elevation loss.
St George Marathon
It's either Tokyo or Boston. My pick is Tokyo knowing him well I think he is done with Boston and American races in general.
He doesnt need to get anything . 38 years old, running on the top for 20 years ( Kiptum was 3 years old) 2 x olympic champion GOAT Marathoner!! Leave him Alone
No chance. Even if Kiptum isn't there, he's dodging Greg and Will for sure. This guy wants a race set up for him to win.
"In Kenya, we only chase 1 Rabbit at a time"
His rabbit right now is Triple Gold. Therefore Maximize recovery time. Therefore Tokyo.
Tokyo - March (Another W, no WR)
Olympics - August (Gold in epic showdown vs Kiptum)
New York - November (tries to go out at 2:03 pace)
Boston - April (W - learns to run the hills) final marathon
EK is NOT ever breaking the new wr. That ship has sailed for the old man. This is all about best preparing himself for one last stand against Kiptum and any others in Paris. You could argue that Boston is a better prep for Paris, but I think he needs another confidence boost with a win in Tokyo and another solid 2:02. He will lay it all on the line in Paris, and then win lose or draw, that’s likely the end of his true competitive career. He will do a retirement tour in Boston, NY, but he will only win those if the competition is surprisingly weak for some reason.
He'll run Tokyo or London. I don't think he can win Boston (or NYC for that matter). As far as running sub 2 in a real marathon event, that's not possible for him any longer imo. If Kiptum is on his game, Kipchoge isn't winning a third OLY marathon either. The ultimate winner is always Father Time.
Disney Marathon. It’s in January so he has plenty of time to recover for the Olympics. It’s also pancake flat and usually has decent weather. No brainer race for him plus he can destroy the course record no problem.
He is going to run Tokyo. Max out recovery time to Olympics.
Father time is undefeated, but no one in history has had the consistency of Kipchoge. Can Kiptum keep this up through the Olympics?
A win over Kiptum in Paris keeps his legacy secure until an athlete goes under 2 in a record eligible marathon.
Not sure what happens after the Olympics. Depends on how he is feeling. If he feels great and competitive he may run New York in November and Boston in April to attempt all 6.
Tokyo or London. He goes to one, Kiptum goes to the other.
I agree about the Olympic marathon result but for slightly different reasons. Kiptum has shown that he can negative split a marathon and run a scintillating second half, without any assistance from pace setters. If he is side by side with Kipchoge at the halfway mark, I do not see how Kiptum loses to EK. It's not just age, but ability. Kiptum is the better runner.
I would also add, the Paris Olympic course is going to be a beast. 1431 feet in total elevation gain, a majority of that is within a 9-10 mile stretch in the middle of the race from about miles 8.5-18. The total Boston Marathon course has 891 feet in climbing. And yes, a majority of that is within a 5 mile stretch from 16-21.
