for him to do this, there is almost no way the rumors of child abuse are true. i can't imagine him dying on this hill if he knew there could be something horribly incriminating to come out of it.
hitting your daughter is hardly "horribly incriminating". i would still fight this if I had hit my daughter, especially if she deserved it.
then why is 90% of this forum supporting the brothers and practically calling for Gjert's head?
Also... What kind of dad goes against all his children in a legal battle to protect his right to train an outsider? Gjert is one massive narcissist..
He does not go against his children directly. He goes against the federation (NFIF). Gjert obviously thinks that it's manageable to let him ringside together with Narve in championships, and that it will do no "harm" to his sons preparations. For Narve I think it's pretty important to have a trainer like Gjert close by through a championship. He is a master in mental racetuning.

Gjert is? I'm curious why you say this as he has said in the past that Jacob always raced using his own plans.
The master in mental race tuning? Do you mean the person who is so stressed out that he is unable to watch the race? I thought one of the reasons the boys didn't want him to be their coach was because it was difficult to be with someone so anxious on race day.

That's because those rumours were literally invented on this message board. It didn't even look serious the first time it was posted and now you've all just run with it and people talk like it's an actual thing.

The rumours was not created at letsrun, but in Norway. If they are true or false I have no opinion on, but these are old.
Actually, there is a long history of people suing for defamation for accusations of things that they in fact did do, and winning the case because there's no proof. It's often a control/bullying tactic (one such lawsuit: Lance Armstrong)

A race plan is tactics. To leave the race tactics to the athlete is a part of the mental tuning. The mental tuning towards big competitions happens throughout the whole year (building a winners mindset). When you are close to a big competition it is crucial to keep this mindset. It`s very easy to get too anxious or start to devaluing yourself the last days before, or between rounds in a championship. I think it seems like Gjert has some real good talent as a trainer in that situation.

It is doable to be both stressed and anxious and be good coach. But for his own children I think he got too much stressed out. Too much feelings to handle. With Narve, I think it is completely different.

Can you share more about that? Why do you think it's completely different with Narve? Is there something you've seen, read, or heard that backs this up or is this a hunch because they don't have a father-son relationship?

From watching Team Ingebrigtsen, I'd say this describes Gjert almost exactly, anxious and questioning if they have done enough.
There was an episode when Gjert was with Henrik in China for the WM (I believe) and he's freaking out that they hadn't done enough heat acclimation. He can't even watch a race without pacing around, and sometimes even walking away!
I haven't seen his talent of keeping an athlete from getting too anxious, but rather the opposite. I'm really interested in hearing any specific examples you can share about Gjert's talent in mental tuning.

It’s just a hunch. I think it´s quite obvious. Because they don’t have the father-son relationship. With Narve he coaches primarily with his head, not with his heart.

Ok, thanks for sharing. Based on what I've seen in Team Ingebrigtsen, I disagree with your idea that Gjert is a master at mental tuning.
It's not so obvious to me that Gjert coaches Narve with his head instead of his hear, and I haven't seen any evidence that Gjert would coach differently with Narve than his sons.
So it sounds like there is a lot of speculation and we just have different opinions here.
I think speculation is a negative word. Arent we discussing possible reasons of Gjerts coaching qualities? Its quite usual to discuss good practice in order to implement it in our own practice. Its more precise to use the word speculation about what has happened inside of the Ingebrigtsen family. Unforunately these two discussions are mixed together these days… (imo)
