In the last 15 Olympic games ('64-'21) there have been 225 Olympic Team spots available for middle/long distance running men. (1500-Marathon). If you apply the "top" High School distance runners of every year against the list of Olympians I think you would find relatively few that made Olympic squads. For every Ryun, Liquori, Pre, Lindgren, Virgin, Salazar, Centrowitz, etc. there are many who have not reached that level. To further narrow to a specific High School is statistically not in their favor.
Best of luck to all of the Newbury Park Alums. The odds are more in their favor given their HS performances. I predict, if it does happen, it would be the athlete you least expect.
