I ran my best 5k in these shoes, which have a firm, thin cushion compared to today’s shoes. But they did have a very firm plastic “sprint frame” between the Eva and the upper.

Kilkenny flat
7.5oz? 25-16 stack?
nike streakflys, great for the track, great for XC if the conditions are good, never tried them on the road
Reebok run fast / run fast pros are also really solid
I don't know if this shoe qualifies as a racing flat (i've raced in them)
but I love my puma liberate nitro (not the version 2).
They are very lightweight and low profile (and also very cheap!)
check them out:)
I mentioned the Nike Rival Waffle. I know you said you tried but it’s too narrow and causing calf issues. Two recommendations: order .5 or 1 size larger than you’re used too for the Rival. Then cut a bit of a hole in the toe box wherever you feel you need some extra space. I started making alterations to the shoes I bought a few years ago because there was always some little issue. This helped me. For example, I have a bone spur on my right big toe and the Rival Waffle is very snug and was hurting the spur. I cut out the spot in the upper where the bone spur is. Now it doesn’t bother. Yes, if you look down at me you would see my sock in that area, but I don’t care. I’ll do whatever it takes! The Rival Waffle has been pretty darn refreshing! So responsive. Feel like a real runner in them.
I was already wearing the rival in .5 size higher than my typical shoe size (what I usually run in and what I'd measure in a brannock device on my slightly larger right foot). I tried a full size higher than my typical size and there was too much room in the forefoot, they felt worse than the just half a size higher than typical. I don't think the rival waffle xc was too tight in the toebox at all, rather the issue I have is that they are too tight in the midfoot. So I'm not sure cutting the toe box will make a marked difference for my calves. However that is a good suggestion if I can find an xc flat that is wider except for the toe box. My left foot is slightly shorter than my right, but slightly wider. I suspect my feet are slightly misshapen relative to normal due to childhood obesity which can cause early growth spurts, then a lack of growth after puberty, but I don't know for sure and can't do anything about it other than spend money to get shoes I can run best in. The only modification I can think of for the rival waffle xc for the midfoot is tying it looser than normal and I was already doing that. I've never had issues with my toes other than blisters, even when my right foot is all the way at the end of the shoe when standing.
