Can anyone confirm that Miller was actually sponsored by Nike at any point? I don't think he was, hence his signing with Brooks.
I don't know who his sponsor has been over the past year. But he did finish top 3 at USAs last year so you would think he was good enough for someone to have been sponsoring him for the past year.
I believe he would have been much better off staying in the NCAA at least one more year. Going pro that soon was a mistake. He was in a very good training situation at Texas A&M, while he had no one to train with in Kersee’s group.
Miller did make the World Team last year but other NCAA athletes also did, and they were much more competitive in their events at the WC. Britton Wilson and Talitha Diggs for example and they went back to the NCAA for another year.

Athing Mu, his girlfriend at the time, was unhappy at Texas A&M and wanted to leave. That probably played a big role in his decision to leave as well.

That’s what I thought as well and it kind of gives some insight into how the relationship part probably fell apart. She could have gone to the Kersee group as she did and him to the transfer portal to a nearby school such as USC or UCLA instead of going pro. Probably would have earned more in NIL money than as a pro.

Good point. And Jebreh Harris at USC is a pretty good 400/800 coach who is currently coaching 400/800 runner Isaiah Jewett, so Miller would have had a training partner.
