How can someone’s name who I have to google be a threat to the Goat ?
You just now had to Google Niels Laros? All that means is you don’t really follow middle distance running. He was a World Championship 1500 finalist at 18, and he’s been making headlines for 2 years.
To answer your question, he could possibly become the biggest threat to Jakob because he’s 18 and quickly improving. Odds are against him seriously threatening Jakob any time soon, but apart from Jakob he’s probably the best bet currently to develop into a 3:26.xx guy. It won’t be surprising if next year at age 19 he runs 3:29 and takes home a medal.
As for Cameron Myers, he could be the next dominant mid distance force, but I like Laros’s odds better at this point (nothing against Myers at all, there’s just no guarantee Myers will progress to multiple 3:31s and a championship finalist next year).
