Jakob is a very successful science experiment. But his weaknesses gets in the way so he cannot always win the big one. Mo Farah was a better championship runner but Jakob is the best time trial specialist we have seen in a long time.

Jakob is 22 and has one Olympic gold, plus 2 World Champs golds, and two World Champs silvers.
Are you willing to bet he won't surpass Mo's medal haul by the end of his career? Lol

Mo Farah won his first global championship when he was 28.
Technology sucking the life out of track and field. It was a good run but very artificial.
Since you think this has become so much easier, go dress up in a speed suit, rent some wave lights, buy a pair of Dragonflies, and go massacre all of your PR's.

Yes I think so. El G should always be a few seconds ahead of Jakob if you base it on the 1500m record. In the 2000m El G would probably be 4:41 with no pace lights and ancient shoes that were heavier and less responsive. If I were Jakob I wouldn't be swell-headed as there's nothing to be extremely proud of.
not in the slightest. In no world is 4:44.79 (56.9 per lap, 3:43 mile equivalent, lasted 20 plus years) a soft record. Jakob was the only one in the world that could break it and it's not close.
I think he means soft relative to El G not to the rest of the world. El G, if you saw his 2000m video on youtube was just jogging it in at the finish line. he was pretty relaxed, and in shoes that were far heavier and slower, no pace lights. If he turned on beast mode like in the 1500m wr he would have gone much faster than 4:43

Well apparently not because el g actually ran 4:44 and the record is now broken
Please read my other comments. I said his youtube video for 2000m wr showed him 'jogging' it in at the finish line pretty relaxed. Didn't look like breathing hard too

You’re right, it was way harder back then with no wave lights, old shoes, and totally uninhibited EPO usage.
