The real issue this year is that the Diamond League final (both schedule and location) is just a total pain in the a$$ for everyone and top of the list are the athletes.
Like outside of the World Champs, the DL final should be the one event everyone wants to be at except there is a large and growing sentiment from athletes that they will either skip it or begrudgingly do it. When you even have US stars like "yeah no thanks" when it's in their home country, you know there is something wrong.
Like the world champs, this meet needs to be in Europe. I personally hated the 2 meet "final" they used to have in Zurich and Brussels, either alternate it between those meets or include 2 of either Paris, Monaco, London (I personally would leave Monaco where it is in the season because it's optimal for fast times) and have each venue host it once every 4 years.
This year it is 2 weeks too late and Eugene just isn't the place to have it. Now you have this meet the athletes don't want to do in a small stadium that they can never fill (maybe we will see some $15-20 tickets but it's Eugene, of course we won't) - just a big meh.
Btw I just checked the ticketing website - this is an example of how absurd this venue is. Tickets in sections 104-106 which is in the bottom tier down the back straight - $95-$125. That's for just Sunday. I have always defended Eugene as a venue because I guess it's my "home" stadium - but I'm done, can't defend the stadium and the now fentanyl zombie infested hobbitville of Eugene.\
So just like Noah, I'll watch this on the TV.
