Yeah it's definitely worth something faster at 6k. On par with what guys are running in DLs in the 12:40s/50s. He hasn't shown that kind of fitness this year so this seems like a step in the right direction.
It’s funny how different Chelimo’s and Sable’s strides are, Paul with the huge forward lean and back kick, Avinash almost leaning back with a choppier stride (probably appropriate for a steepler)
I noticed that too. Honestly I think it's simply because Avinash is probably working a lot harder at that pace. Slow down the pace and he could probably run a bit more like Paul.
I think the 5k is too stacked. This to me shows he might be able to run around 12:50 (I'm taking in to consideration the altitude). There are too many low 12:40 guys in the race, as well as Jakob. Chelimo isn't going to beat all but two of them.
But as far as Chelimo goes. This workout was a banger. Really shows the form he's in. Will be very interesting to watch him tapered and race ready at low altitude, in a race environment, and see what goes down.
4:15, 4:12, 4:08, at altitude and then a 1:55 800 to finish.
I wouldn't be shocked if he gets another medal again.
This is a good workout at altitude. Curious as to what the recovery was. Maybe 5+min (easy 400m walk jog). These splits should feel comfortable. The 800 split is the key indicator, and shows he's in good form. Chelimo is a championship racer and should show very well in Budapest.

I just hope this is not another case of: "Exhibition in training for social media likes... and another failure with an excuse at the real important day: championships final"
Beating a dead horse here, but remember when Rupp ran the indoor 2 mile american record in 8:07, and later that evening ran 5 x 1600 indoors running 4:21, 4:20, 4:20, 4:16, 4:01? And he never ran 12:50. I wouldn't put Chelimo's 3 x 1600 at 5,000 feet ahead of that. So Chelimo's workout doesn't make me think he is going to win a medal. All of the guys running 12:40's (4:04-4:06 1600 pace the entire 5000m race) can run a few 1600's with multiple minutes of rest in sub 4:10 at altitude.
