Legitimate question- why are they referring to Kerley as the “fastest man in the world” in the write up? Hughes and Omanyala have both run faster this year. Seems unnecessarily confusing, but I guess USATF would rather have Kerley keep his flashy nickname? Love Kerley but cmon

Well typically that title is given to the Olympic or Worlds champ, so it's not that weird to call him that.
Good call. Josette's back issues probably made the decision for Monson pretty easy to not scratch the 5. Schweizer on the other hand looked back to herself in a recent 1,500 and could certainly be competitive in a 10,000. I wonder if they should've gone all-in on the 5,000 instead of trying the 10,000 in retrospect. That being said, they wouldn't have known that Rogers would get in on Ranking and who knows if beating Rogers in the 5,000 was plausible anyway.
Oh please. She’s got no back issues. Some bs excuse story. She’s just not good enough to be represented. And frankly Monson has no issue running both events as she rightfully deserves.
You better be 100% sure of yourself if you're going to make such strong statements.
Per Jonathan Gault's "explainer" article re:USA roster just uploaded on the home page, Monson/Ritz do have issues with the 10k . . . so Andrews could still run the 5k where her 14:43 pr more than qualifies Josette to be represented.
And, same with McGorty/Jerry deciding about the 10k with Grant's participation in the balance . . .

She never does well in major races. Completely inconsistent. Ran a 5:04 in nationals. And never was able to repeat her under 4 1500 from 2 yrs ago. Not a candidate for such a big international race. Her days are over in the 5K and 1500

Elise, Alicia, and Natosha all choosing to do 5k/10k double. I was wondering if Elise would scratch the 10k to help teammate Karissa in ( along with Elise mentioning not being a 10k runner) but no luck for Karissa this time.
Question. If the roster is already announced does that mean no substitutions at this point? Say Karissa for Elise?

For everyone who loves to (understandably) hate on the USATF national office, I have this to say: they did a better job with this than British Athletics did with the British team!
Where is it verified that Weini is the alternate? My understanding is that USATF would have possibly given preference in an alternate position to someone with a qualifying standard over someone who may not have the ranking to get in. Are alternates listed somewhere or are you just assuming it is the 4th place finisher? Either way, I'd love to see what Weini could do in a global championship field!

So alternates go to Budapest waiting to find out if they will be called to race? Sounds farfetched
It's the 4th place finisher, if they qualify. Since Rogers is now in on world ranking and Kelati 1 spot behind her, then Kelati would also now qualify on ranking, if any American withdrew.
