I once had the opportunity to ask early-70s 1500/mile great, Tony Waldrop, why he disappeared precipitously from the sport, and didn't compete in the '76 Olympics against John Walker, Filbert Bayi etc. He said, without pausing for the tiniest moment, "The fans. Half of them are crazy.. they are simply stark raving mad. They think they own you. They think they can prioritize the various elements of your life FOR YOU. I had my own life to live, and I'd had enough of them."
I find it astonishing that people exist who think that they have the right to prioritize OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST Athing Mu's priorities for her. Just like everybody else, she has the right to try to create for herself the life that she wants to live.
