Men’s 800 because I truly believe Rudisha was clean. That record will also never, and I mean NEVER, be broken. 800, for men at least, is such a weird blend of raw speed, speed endurance, and pain tolerance, that there is no one individual PED that would truly help you. For women, testosterone and steroids clearly has an impact at this distance as the increased muscle power benefits women. The increased muscle power for men means more lactate, and subsequently more pain, so I think it is really hard to dope the event.
800 record is only waiting for the next genetic freak, it will be broken
Tech , shoes and track has evolved
Coe and cruz were running less than a second slower 40 years ago

I would like to believe that it is clean because Rudisha is a legend, a beautifull athlete to watch and the 800 is my favorite distance. But if i'm being honest, i think all the sub 1:43 are dirty.
The 800 being at the crossroads of sprint and distance you could say no PED works, but you could also say all PEDs work! I think the latter is more true. From steroids to EPO and whatever else they use.

I agree that “you can’t dope the 800” is silly thinking. I have a hard time believing all 109 1:42s by 39 different athletes representing 19 different countries were doped, personally.
Silly me, I offered a response to the OP and shared an opinion. I think the most likely clean records could be pole vault and long jump. I think there is NO chance it is a running event of any length because drugs so clearly help in all of those, from 100 meters to the marathon. Instead of just knocking me, perhaps offer an opinion of your own. And if your opinion is that every record is held by a doper, why bother to respond at all?
Sorry I didn't mean to knock you; I simply found this old record from the drug infested, pre Wada times to be one of the most suspicious.
My opinion? I offered that earlier in this thread... my opinion is not "that every record is held by a doper".

Maybe not all but not far from that in my opinion.
I can say with absolute certainty that 800m in 1:48 is possible without doping. Because I did exactly that nearly 30 years ago. Anything faster then 1:48, most certainly doped!
This is a lot different than it was in the 80s when guys like Beyer and Timmerman and likely Carter were evidently doped to the gills and back then I'd say all 21m throwers were on the beans. Not sure why except that Crouser has steady progression on his side and there is more global will at least to tackle the issue as well as events like SP being the most obvious targets for steroid improvement.
There's no reason for me to believe that you MUST be doped to hold that record.
With a realistic combination of speed, strength, and coordination, and a lifetime of training under the watchful eye of experts, great results could be expected.
I believe that there are probably a lot of people on this planet who could go over 20' if they started in the event young enough (I'm thinking of all the guys who compete at the highest levels of gymnastics). And there are virtually untapped parts of the world for this event, so if you brought pole vaulting to the masses (in countries like Nigeria, for example), you would find a lot of great vaulters.
This seems reasonable, and yet we’ve seen a couple of high level pole vaulters get busted for steroids over the years including the 2016 Olympic gold medalist and Olympic record holder just last week! Demi Payne, the former women’s NCAA record holder in the pole vault went from being a 13’ vaulter as freshman to a 16’ vaulter and NCAA record holder in two years before being busted for taking Drostanolone and serving a 4 year ban. The only conclusion we can draw is pole vaulters benefit tremendously from taking performance enhancing drugs. Does that mean the current record is dirty? It does make it harder to believe.
I always like to flip this question around in my mind and ask, if doping was legalized which records would get broken right away? Any of them? I think you have your answer.
I also think Rojas is clean in the TJ. To me, she falls into the category of genetic freak who benefited from excellent technique refinement from a very good coach and technological advances.
21st century WRs only. Please try to put the fan inside you aside when rating a WR from an athlete you like.
I would go with one that requires a lot of technique and is not too impressive.
I hesitate between :
the 110h : the top guys have unimpressive 100/200 PRs. Very technical. The performance isn't the most oustanding.
3000sc (shaheen one) : 3000/5000 PR possibly clean (tough the 5k would be the clean WR imo). Quite a lot of room for being improved.
Decathlon : easier to be good at everything than the best ever in 1 discipline without PEDs I think. Also the technical and training aspect is the most complex of all. But is it possible without any help for recovery at least?
I don't know all the women WRs so I might be missing one there.

Yeah, I would definitely limit my response to the men’s pole vault, and Mondo specifically. Drugs present way too much upside for women in vaulting for me to have any confidence that women’s vaulting is clean.
