I bought a condo 5 years ago. House or townhouse would have probably been a better investment, but I have houses nearby and everyone, no matter which type of dwelling you have, is neighborly.
Only if ya hit em with the PRE NUP when they come around wanting a ring on it. Women love houses and cars and winners, just be cognizant of those facts. Many have inherited a very toxic entitlement complex (they think what the man earns is theirs). Buying a house (not yours until fully paid off though) won't ruin your life (unless you don't put insurance on it) but a woman sure as hell may ruin it. Just be aware.
How to tell everyone you only manage to date unemployed hairdressers...
OP - toughen up and stop being so scared of living in a house alone. Its a house, not a monk's cell on an uninhabited island.
If you have any money (you don't--I'll judge you because you wrongly judged me) we can battle for your money. Id rather count a hundred thousand dollars on a Sunday. Unlike yourself, I'm not an internet tough guy who cowers in person. You'd run away and/or cry if you seen me. Keyboard warrior.

Weird post. Even if your judgment is as bad as your English, surely you must have heard of women mds, dentists, lawyers, accountants, scientists, etc. even if they run a mile from you? Where do you live? The State penitentiary? Why the heck would any woman with a high earning job go near a guy that threatens violence over the internet?
I'm a woman by the way. What is it about all these guys scared of living in a house on their own? I weigh 112 pounds, and you sure as heck don't scare me with your piddly trash talking.

Steve's writing is pretty bad, but I sometimes find it amusing. I'm a married professional and homeowner. I'm not sure what I'd do if I was single. I think threatening violence isn't so bad if you are sincere. Too many people think they can mouth off with impunity these days.

Never amusing. His posts are always garbage. Best to just skip past anything he posts.

Always beware of people who self-identify as addicts, they’re insufferable and probably go to NA. Imagine being no good enough to be in AA, and having to attend NA with all the tattooed trash. That would make you mad enough to be an ITG and threaten violence.
Nonetheless his advice is spot-on and it applies to both sexes. If it flies, floats, or fvcks, lease it.

I didn't threaten any violence. At all. I simply implicitly requested accountability on your part for your words and false assumptions. I've dated women from all professions including a doctor, lawyers, millionaire women. When you're a high value man, you can have your choice. But another person's relationships shouldn't concern you, should they? Nosy people are so annoying and it's obvious they're so nosy because their lives are BORING as hell.
Houses are a lot of work, but some more than others. The work can be fun and rewarding to learn how to do yourself.
I never liked the idea of someone else making money off of my living situation, so owning always made more sense if you can swing it financially. My two cents are to buy a ranch home, no deck, on a good incline with no sump pump needed. And always try to get a feel for neighbors. I currently have the neighbors from hell and want to move.

You and the content of your posts are the definition of "boring". As is your fake persona here. If there is something you are not is "a high value man".

Men who sleep around with multiple women are best avoided. In fact, us women have to spend too much of ourvtime avoiding men like you. Your own self promoting, self contradicting fantasies are bizarre. You are not in the slightest form plausible.

You can have a house and be social.
What's the difference between a townhouse and condo? I've seen condos with only one shared wall, 2 car garage, 2 stories and they're still called condos.

You're right. But no one man can please every woman. So I'm glad I can not please you on a forum. Let me ask you this, have you ever cheated on your partner? Because I don't think anyone who's cheated has a right to criticize the opposite sex at all. That would equate to their opinion having a credibility level equating to ZERO. I hope you find what you're looking for.

A townhouse can share walls but never has someone on top of you. They typically have a small outdoor area and are typically two or more stories. Typically they will have a private garage/carport. The key is that you own the outdoor areas/exterior portions of the townhouse (possibly with easements that allow access to various people in emergecies/maitenance etc). You are required to upkeep your small gardens, patios, and possibly even exterior painting/fences depending on your association rules.
Condo is a catch all phrase. It includes appartments where you own the interior living area (an appartment that you own rather than rent) and also properties that look like townhouses, but are in complexes where most of the exterior work is managed by the complex.
In general condo/townhouse are phrases without legal definitions is most juristictions, so what is what will vary between who you ask, but the main principle is that you have some ownership over the exterior in a townhouse and typically none in a condo.
If there's a high probability you'll be there more than 5 years, find a good place that will retain value and buy it. It's money well spent because instead of rent you're buying equity.
I also second the comment previously about renting if you move. I had to do that when I relocated for work, and it's been one of the best investments I've made.
Agree with people who said house upkeep is a freaking nightmare. You spend a small fortune and you are working constantly, or you spend a large fortune to have people do everything for you, and it's still a fair amount of work coordinating them all.
That said, it really depends on a lot of circumstances. What kind of house? Where? What kind of lifestyle are you looking for?
I would not want to live in a McMansion subdivision as a single person, but a smaller house in a denser neighborhood doesn't necessarily entail a radical change in lifestyle from city apartment living. It's nice to have a guest room, an office, a treadmill in the basement, and a private patio for entertaining. If you're just a little ways out from the densest part of town, you probably have better running options. You're not so far out that people from downtown won't come to your place, but suburban friends won't be scared off either. The problem is finding a house like that. In a decent neighborhood, they're often sold as teardowns. In a bad neighborhood, well....
Townhouses are a great intermediate option, especially if the HOA handles most of the exterior.
I think it just depends where you want to live. Figure that out, and then decide if you want to stay there long-term. If yes, buy a house / condo. Buying a house gives you leverage on your investment and may make it easier to afford a house in the future if you want to get married and have kids. But leverage comes with risk. I bought my first house (as a single person) in 2006. I ended up holding onto it and renting until 2021 or so. It took more than a decade for it to equal its purchase price.
