Initially, this thread was entitled "UCLA track coach, Sean Brosnan, Fired for NCAA violations" but we changed it as Brosnan told us he was simply not renewed for next year.
NCAA rules on transfers and recruiting are different from when I was an NCAA Compliance Coordinator, but from what I read, some of the stories seemed pretty aggressive. Competing coaches can stir the pot if someone crosses the line. My experience was the stories that make headlines tells only a part of a caught coach’s finagling.
Waiting on an actual source to come out, but if he did get fired for politics reasons, that really sucks. I wanted to see what he could do, and he had some good transfers to build off of.

way tempered my statement lol
Have to guess the transfers that barely entered the portal and then committed would be a start… I’m sure there are others. hs coaches that get away with anything rarely understand that college coaches have to follow actual rules and have actual bosses
Probably offended someone in the world ultra woke academia.
Academia is one of the most intolerant and stifling places to work these days. Take it from an insider witness to the madness that is harming the youth of America.
Virgina, Alabama, and Duke coach all filed complaints to the ncaa about recruiting Barnett, Mcdonell, and Frias before they were in the transfer portal. Ncaa could not prove Brosnan guilty, however the assistant athletic director decided to boot him anyways because of the allegations. Multiple athletes on both mens and womens sides have already entered the transfer portal, including Ronan Stags. Brosnan is trying to go to Oregon.

Double that Holy Moly, if the above is true. Just nuts!
Sean was NOT fired due to ncaa violation because Sean did not commit a SINGLE violation. He was fired by power-hungry associate AD, the same administration that continues to treat that program like trash. Horrific display by UCLA admin to fire Sean over POLITICS and leave those student athletes high and dry 2 weeks before commencement of season. Sean is not perfect but this is a disgusting display from UCLA. And yes, he has already shared news with team, who is heartbroken.
So why did they fire him?
Well all the transfer portal stuff was obviously not legit, but what prob hurt must were the shots he was having the kiddos take… not a good look… sucks that after a year or trying to be high level he also ruined his awesome hs coach status.
Brosnan just posted an Instagram story that he's going live at 930pm EST.
jeez I can't think of a single time someone went onto IG live the day that some news dropped about them and they came out of it looking good. hopefully this bucks that trend
