Maybe Ryan Adams a dark Cleveland horse? Ryan just won Mexican Championships (1500/800) after quitting Atlanta Track Club. Heard working with Clayton Murphy and Lee Labadie now.

I kinda feel like Dani Jones needs a new training group. I don’t doubt Joe Bosshard as a coach (although I don’t believe middle distance is his forte) but she really hasn’t improved at all since college — if Wetmore and Burroughs would take her back, that might be a nice move. She seems to love the group so more power to her, but she has really stagnated.
Centro was at the event, I saw him pre-race. Must’ve pulled out last minute unfortunately
Gregoreks winning time was a little more “realistic” this year, 3:53.x vs 3:46.y but I’d say the course is nice and fast. The cost of the uphill first half is definitely outweighed by the benefit of the downhill second half, as long as you don’t go out so hard that you’re unable to increase your effort level a little bit to take advantage of the downhill.
there did appear to somehow be a headwind on the first half and a tailwind on the second half despite the course being point2point and basically a straight line.
great event overall other than needing a few more bathrooms.

Jones is a puzzle, that's for sure. I thought she was destined for greatness when she won the 1500 B race at Pre in 2018 while redshirting. In 2021, her second year as a pro, looked promising. She ran fast in several races, and set PBs in the 1500 (4:04.26) and 800. She didn't run well last summer, and didn't run after USAs -- I assume she was hurt. And so far this year, she's still not back to her 2021 form.
In the meantime, Cory McGee, who Jones beat at Pre back in 2018, has lowered her PR by six seconds since then, and is going to Budapest.

Every time I feel like Dani Jones is primed for a breakthrough, she settles back into decent but nothing special racing. Indoors she ran a really good 1000 beating Heather Maclean (2:34 if I’m remembering correctly) and 4:26 which had me thinking she might finally be a contender outdoors. She then lost her shoe in the outdoor final, ran 4:05, then only 4:33 today. Really pulling for her but she might have to change her current set up to stop the stagnation.

....great event overall
Sounds like it.
PS Holt's fans were sure he was in AR shape. Any idea what happened? How'd he look?
my only observation is that some people seem better suited for downhill running than others. I’d never seen him run in person but have seen videos and he looks more comfortable on a flat surface (whereas some people seem to really be able to lean forward on a downhill and open up)
I think Bosshard definitely is a good coach but I have noticed a pattern where in each event group at most one athlete thrives and the rest struggle. Cory McGee, the Emmas and Fauble are doing well but what of the rest? Is it a customization thing? Overtraining to the fittest athlete? Random? Who knows.
he looked like what you’d expect from a guy who never takes it easy. impossible to maintain that level of grinding for a year without getting stale.
The Guardian mile was a GREAT event - well run from top to bottom with over 800 total runners in 5 different races. The elite runners were accessible, especially Centro and Johnny - those guys went above and beyond for their entire visit to CLE. Kudos to Ryan Adams on his 2nd place finish as well. The times were slower because they went out in 2:00 for the first 800, still had a pack of 5 at 1200, then Johnny sat in perfect position until 100-150 to go. Citius did a great job on the drone coverage. The elite races are worth watching if you find them on social media.
Great event.
Really cool vids from Citrus mag. Wow, nice production value this year! Some of the best road mile videos I've seen, new york 5th avenue mile included.
In a few years I will age up into the masters division where I hope to be competitive!
Anybody know why Centro didn't give it a go?
She was an NCAA I XC and 5000m Champ. Should give the 5000m a real go. Generally get stronger with age. The 1500m basically comes down to a kick. Some people really like the 1500m / mile though.
Who can the Guardian Mile lure for next year during an Olympic Year? Pick up the scraps after the USA Trials?
Dani Jones has shown some progress with Bosshard. Maybe not as much as some people hoped for but progress nonetheless.
