I didn’t realize she tested positive for SARMS. It seems she should have gotten a much longer suspension. I would like to know what supplement was tainted. The manufacturer of that supplement should be in big trouble. I know of someone who took a SARMS and ended up hospitalized with jaundice. Secretly putting SARMS in your supplements should end you up in jail.
Ultra and trail running are for slow weirdos who can’t run fast for just 2-3 hours, or even better 14:59 minutes on the road. Nobody cares about people plodding along hike / walking for 20 hours.
OMG, what a post. Very insightful; good job!
But they are right - few really care. These races are just not standard and comparable enough to keep the competitiveness interesting. Plus we all know most good marathoners can move up in distance and crush it in these races. They don't for obvious reasons.

Wouldn't you be annoyed if you were a clean athlete and you felt someone who had benefited from doping started winning etc. Good for Camille.
Clean or not, I imagine that if I were the kind of person who goes to the trouble of applying for and obtaining a Guinness World Record for "fastest marathon in a superhero costume" (2:48:51, in case you were wondering), I would be annoyed by pretty much anyone who had ever accomplished anything.

Didn't happen because Paulson is a liar.
Admitted doper, admitted course cutter on numerous occasions.
Fails to mention she got a lift at Badwater for 18 miles.

Tom Evans, who won Western States a couple weeks ago, has a 13:46 5k and a 1:03 HM. His 2:32 Marathon PB was from within an ultra, he'd be not far off 2:10 if he was to do an all out Marathon. Plus during Western States, his fastest split, was 5:45/mi just after the 100k mark.

There are a lot of people throwing around the word "doper" and "admitted doper."
Couldn't we make the argument that she is as much a victim as anything else?
Consider: Our government refuses to regulate the supplement industry. A study by the IOC found that about 19% of supplements from America tested positive for something that would trigger a suspension. Ashley Paulson used a supplement that triggered a positive result, and then the USADA confirmed that the supplement was tainted. They didn't take her word for it. They "examined and tested the supplement" and confirmed it was tainted.
If she, or anyone, died because of a tainted supplement purchased from GNC, would we label them a doper or a victim?
I wish she had sued the supplement manufacturer for costing her six months of racing and damages to her reputation.
And I wish our government would recognize that supplements are either food or drugs and would put them under the regulations of the FDA. That would be good for all consumers.
That post from Herron was so weird. She talked about how in her experience, she was moved up in a race from like 10th to 9th and how "impactful" that was. 😳 was it? Help me understand Camille.
When Kara Goucher went from bonzer to silver at the world championships and she talked about the financial impact of how her contract paid out for the difference btwn the two, and lost revenue I could totally get behind that sense of anger, but..10th to 9th? OK. Help me out.
I want to like Herron bc she's a masters woman out there running and competing, but she seems like a simp, and there are other masters women who are just...smarter? Idk. Everytime she talks I roll my eyes a little.

It's unfortunate that the biggest enemy of Camille is Camille. Over the years she has made it really difficult to like her. She is a fantastic road ultrarunner but she created an image not many people want to buy into. That's also the reason why the ultrarunning world has gone silent about her unless she really needs to be mentioned.
One great athlete's criticism of a blatant cheater is no reason whatsoever to criticize the great athlete. Herron has run some absolutely incredible ultra records. Give one of our own credit where credit's due.
1:03 half converts to a 2:11, hence why I said 'Not far off 2:10'
I don't think "a fast road runner just won the Superbowl of Ultra running" backs up your point. It actually shows the opposite i.e. ultrarunning is a sub elite sport at best and any elite road runner with some specific training could dominate. Evan's PRs line up pretty well with Walmsley's too. On the women's side this is even more true.

Kipchode was responding to this:

He definitely did back up his point. There are fast people running in ultras who can run fast for 2-3 hours. They are just choosing, for their own reasons, to pursue ultras.
"Herron is the current world record holder for 50 miles (5:38:41), 100 miles (12:41:11) and 24 hours (262.192K or 162.919 miles). She also became the first athlete to win all three of the road IAU World Championships for 50K, 100K, and 24 Hours."
