Nope. The scheduling at championships is better. The rounds are across 3 days. The 100/200 double is very common. The best shot (a long one) Abby has going to Budapest is if she gets a relay invite. She has to run fast times in the DL meets though. This is her first pro circuit, it usually takes about the third to figure it out. She will be fine. I think she should either focus on the 200 or the 200/400.
Why does everyone say Abby should run the 400? What's her 400 PB? It doesn't even list it on Wikipedia. Gabby has run under 50 and no one says she should run the 400.
For the same reason people were saying Wariner should run the 800.
No way SCR will drop the 200 at Worlds. The schedule at worlds is much more forgiving for doubling with a couple of days in between each event and heats/semis/finals all on separate days. SCR is a medal favorite in the 200 even with Gabby and Shericka running better times. SCR will be more competitive at Worlds with the easier schedule.
I wouldn't be surprised if she did drop the 200m despite it making zero sense. Why? She likely reached a plea deal for that "Marijuana" positive (missing the Olympics her restructured punishment for a cash bond) and they know she's fortunate to be allowed to be competing right now, so they may instruct her she's not allowed to do both because it's obvious she's back on the sauce.

She should run the 1-2 double, and go for a third medal in the 4x1, but the 100m will always be the priority for her and historical precedent shows that top 100m runners will drop the 200m even with a favorable schedule if they feel a twinge and don't want to lose the rest of the season for a less than marquee event. So, don't be surprised if she drops it.
Highly unlikely and if that that happens she would have completed her 100m pretty sure it’s too late for a replacement, there’s a deadline for countries to send names of athletes and their disciplines.

She split 48 high.
Splits are not PB. She has no pb for the 400m outdoors because she has never ran one. Splits are also not official and accurate, so you will never see it on an athletes profile on world athletics. It’s just something’s fans use to brag about their faves, it could also be handy for coaches.
To add, the 100 is always before the 200 anyways, so she would have been done with the 100 already.
I was going to add in support of her doing the double, that even if she was at her worst in the 200m she would still make the finals and give herself a shot at a medal, but remember what she did at Prefontaine in 2021. She got smoked in the 100m and then dropped out of the 200m, which was after. And not because of injury.
Physically she's clearly in a different place, but would it surprise anybody if she actually did drop the 200m?

It doesn’t matter though, by the time the competition starts, it’s too late for any replacement. If Sha’Carri is to drop the 200 for Abby, she will need to do it before the deadline. Also, you can’t really predict what your body will do in terms of fitness and injury, athletes scratching mid championship is not new, Kerley scratched his 200m in Eugene last year, ADG too. The latest replacement I have seen was in pole vault Tokyo 2021.

You’re not keeping up.
If ScR drops the 200, Steiner will not replace her. Steiner is injured.
I hope I'm not splitting hairs here, but she has a bone spur on her heel. Is that considered an injury?
Call it whatever you want. It makes it so that she can’t run at her best and will need surgery. She isn’t the best choice for a replacement if ScR were to drop the 200.
It’s all a moot discussion, anyway. Richardson isn’t going to drop the 200.
Sha'Carri will probably decide to focus on just the 100, leaving a spot open for Abby Steiner.
I actually really like Abby Steiner but heavens no. Sha'carri probably wants all the medals she can get at this championship with the 100 being her #1 focus.
Yeah, a bone spur counts. Over time it can slowly shred your achilles and you subconciously will push off with less force on that foot. This leads to poor performance and compensation injuries on the other leg. I dealt with bone spur for a long time and I could sort of grind through it, but after a while surgery was the only option. Post-surgery (or 1.5 years post-surgery - I'm old) I'm running much better and have a lot more power on that foot than I've had in 5+ years.
The long-winded Total Running Productions guy that makes videos that are 5 minutes long to explain something that could be said in less than a minute, has one up about Steiner’s injury. I didn’t watch but FWIW for those interested…
After an amazing 2022, Steiner entered 2023 with high prospects and world championship dreams. Here's what happened to her this season.Crop your merch here ...
