if he can't break 24 in a flying 200 that means he's no better than 24.75-25.00ish in the 200 from the blocks.
a 25-flat 200 guy running sub 3:30? can he be sanctioned based off of this alone?

I would never refer to a sub-3:30 1500m athlete as untalented but I understand N G N's point. He is significantly worse at 800m and his 5000m time would have been a great 5000m time (45 to 50) years ago. Most sub-3:30 1500m men cannot move up to 5000m and medal on the international level. N G N knows he is one of those guys. We'll see.
There’s also the chance he’s hyper exaggerating his lack of basic speed for effect. Either that or he hasn’t really tested himself all out much over the 200m/400m since he was a lot younger and his speed has developed quite a bit more than then. For instance I’ve seen athletes who could only run 25/54 for the 200/400 around age 16/17 run low 23 and mid 49 in their early 20s.
Yes, it could be true.
Also, I have seen some running lots of 200m repeats and they assume that final repeat is their best ever result. For example, one decent russian guy ran 25x200m and in last attempt 28s. He assumed that he can't run any faster ever and started talking on podcasts, that he is super slow.
If he had rested for few days and entered 200m race, he could have run much faster.
I, myself, doing 200m repeats, sometimes struggle to run even 27s at last effort. But actually my real speed is low 23s

this is just for publicity. nordas ran a 1:49 final 800 of his 3:29 pr. there is no reality where he cant run sub 24 for a flying 200.
this is the same bs where people were saying jakob couldnt break 50s for 400 but in reality is doing 400 repeats in 49.
Should I be surprised that such an ignorant post gets so many upvotes?
He said the same recently in another podcast (spring snygt). He has been running 200s with a flying start indoors this season and had then clocked barely under 24 self-timed, which he rounded up to 24.
He also said his speed hasn't improved compared to earlier years.
Narve has the same "lack" of speed as the Ingebrigtsens. He has said, earlier, that he is capable of running better than Filips 1.46.74. His last 800 1.49.7 at Bislett gives the indication. He will also qualify for the 5000 for Budapest. He knows now that 13:07 will be a walk in the park. He has imporved, not at least mentally.
Actually he is only the 14th worst sub 3:30 runner in the world. I guess he won't make the front page of the Daily Telegraph this time.
AMAN WOTE GOES HOME DEVASTATED
Only 0.09 seconds below 3:30.
Looks like Filip eased up on the home straight for his PB of 3:30.01. He didn't want to risk a 3:29.99 to labelled a hobby jogger in the sub 3:30 club.
Another thumbs up to JG. Really enjoyed how he continued to press Nordas on the details about his training. My takeaway was that Nordas got frustrated with the 5K because he overheats quite easily. I think he’s a good example of how your kick in a 1500m race or even a 10K race has nothing to do with your ability to sprint AS LONG AS the pace is honest from the beginning. As distance runners we need to build our engine through lots of volume at threshold but if Nordas didn’t do weekly hill workouts or race frequently at paces above LT he would not be a 3:29 guy. Double threshold works but not in isolation.

That's because speed doesn't improve from your teens. Speed endurance does.
Why is this so hard for so many people here to understand?
Humblepragging PR fluff that's all that statement is
*breaks 3:30* Why me, god? Curse this lack of talent! *falls to the stage*
Are You nuts?
For men max speed still improves a lot after 18
isn't this the same one-year improvement that makes you and everyone dislike Katir?
He hasn't run a 5000m this season and isn't entered in Lausanne. Is he entered for any other races or the Norwegian championships? I wouldn't expect him to be able to run sub-13:07 if he only has one shot at the event.
This whole thread misses the point, as usual. The issue isn't his "talent" or supposed lack of it - by which he really means speed - it is that relatively slow runners can acquire superhuman endurance so that they are not penalized for that lack of speed in shorter distance events, like the 1500. Nordas isn't a naturally more gifted athlete than the Elliott's, Snells, Ovett's, Coe's and Crams, who were way faster than he is, and he wouldn't have superior endurance to those champions, who trained just as hard. So that leaves one thing that makes him relatively tireless. But only this year. Because a year ago he was nowhere near this level.

Really? Put some numbers up then?

He’s entered in the 1500 and 5000m in the Norwegian champs -don’t know if he’s going for a fast race there….
Open any 100 sprinters profiles and compare their 60/100 times before 18 and after
Aside from the shoes you implied, being "dragged" in a fast race also helped,
