Lastly, it’s clear to see Pete Julian Is a terrible coach for the most part or has very bad luck. Look at Rayvn Rogers she is not the same. Craig Engels has fallen way off.
Pete Julian is, well, a Nike coach. Julian also worked directly with Salazar. I am not for a second implicating Brazier, Rogers, or even Engles as dopers but it's clear that something is off.
FWIW: we haven't seen consistent 800m women in the US in a long, long time. And as fun of a story as Engels was/is (?) he was more of a personality than he was a legit contender for world titles. Heck, with guys like Centro, Prakel et al in his generation, he was often our third at best.
If Pete Julian really is mismanaging Brazier and training is just awful, it's an absolute shame. I really thought he'd be breathing down 2012 Rudisha's throat by now...

I hope Brazier makes it all the way back! He was the US best chance for 800 Olympic Gold. ...But no matter how much we wished it, Brazier never came close to Rudisha. Braziers 1:42.34 is tied for 29th on the all performances list. For reference, Rudisha owns 6 of the top 10 fastest times ever run and ran faster than Braziers PR 12 times. Rudisha ran faster than 1:42.91 16 times. Brazier ran faster than 1:43 twice. There's a reason that Rudisha is GOAT!
Again, hope Brazier makes it back! The 800 is much more exciting with him competing.
Yeah Brazier is sort of like a Joaquim Cruz sort of talent, which means he could have run faster than he has, but he will be 27 in April and so his prime years are almost over for the 800m. He is a World Champion though so his career has been stellar already.
Would he then have a bye for worlds If he just shows up to USAs and scratch or jog? I guess that isn’t happening anyway and I honestly hope he doesn’t try that it never works not enough time
