What a stupid post. Sydney is now second to Bol? Give me a break.
Sydney has ALREADY run faster this year than Bol in the flat 400.
And Sydney has run sub 51 in the 400h but Bol can't even break 52.
Please stop saying stupid things about Sydney being second to Bol.
If you're saying this calendar year you forgot Bol's 49.26 indoors run several months ago.
No, I didn't forget about indoors. I'm talking about outdoors.
Both Bol and Sydney have run good, but not great, outdoor 400's this outdoor season. Bol's time was nothing that would warrant the comment that Sydney was now second to Bol.

I think you did forget about it because the indoor season starts the entire 2023 season. 49.26i is superior to 49.52 outdoors no matter how you spin it. It's not like that time was run 2 years ago.

Not entirely true…while 49.2i is fast, running outdoors is a totally different beast due to the elements and staying in your lane. I do hope Bol and Syd race each other this year to settle this once and for all.

There's a reason outdoor records are vastly superior to indoor records. You have to run 4 tight curves indoors as well as having to either push to get the inside lane or having to pass on the outside. Outdoors has no such obstacles, you stay in your lane and run two gradual curves. Also indoors you're probably not as advanced in your training as it's the beginning of the competitive season.
Bol isn't the same type of athlete as Sydney. She runs every week and she runs to win her race or work on her technique. She doesn't take a helicopter to the meet and emerge in a boxing robe with a giant belt and world record talk, and then assign glory to God.
That's said, if she's running the open 400, she's probably competing with Britton Wilson et. al. for bronze after Sydney and Paulino. She can also run 48, but it seems that her focus this year is on her hurdling stride pattern, so I don't see her going much under the 49.25 she ran indoors.
