Perhaps that's why he was so happy afterwards . . . he knows he's good for another two seconds.

He hates so much to lose, i don't think he would run sub 2.45 1200m which is needed for him to break it if he risk hitting the wall and losing
I don't think there's a clear favorite. Imo:
Jakob 3:27.95 <<< Lagat 3:26.34 although that could change soon.
Jakob 12:48 > Lagat 12:53 but only by a bit with the spike advantage. Jakob could go faster but Lagat could've too.
Jakob 1500 Oly Gold, WC Silver x 2 < Lagat 1500 Oly Bronze, Silver, WC Gold, Bronze. Pretty even but I give Lagat the nod for tougher competition.
Jakob 5000 WC Gold <<< Lagat 5000 WC Gold, Silver x 2, 3000i Gold x 2, WC Silver x 1, and Oly 4th and 5th at 36 and 41 is Lagat for indoor dominance and longevity (note: Jakob made his first WC team in the steeple at age 16!).
Jakob 2 x WR >> Lagat with 0 WRs. Pretty easily Jakob.
Jakob with Norwegian NRs << Lagat with Kenyan and American NRs. Lagat's 1500 record stood for like 17 years, and he has (had?) records in 2 countries.
Jakob could absolutely surpass him, but I don't think he has yet. A 1500/mile WR or successfully doubling this year would probably be enough to change that, but he still has to prove he can do that.

Should we bump all the threads that said Jakob was DONE after Doha? That he peaked early at the age of 1X? (X being any number between 6-9).
y’all are grasping at straws and hating.
JI is not even a 1500m runner. Sure, he runs it very fast because he is so absurdly gifted. He runs everything fast. The guy is clearly more of a 2 miler. Very clear to me. At 2k, 3k and 2mile, he's off the charts. If he even gets near the 1500 and Mile records (and he may well get close to them), then other guys ought to just raise a white flag at 2000m thru 5000m. They will need a bicycle to stay with him.
I'm guessing he may take a shot at 5k in late summer. Should go 12:40.
Just look at hundreds of people cope too soon.
Cope that quick and you only show you know!
4 tenths in 3 years, that's the facts Jack. Not a breakthrough. Might stay in that neighborhood a while longer, but a plateau is basically same as a peak.
When Jakob runs 3:27 low in Lausanne, will you return to gloat that he’s only dropped 1 second since 2021?

He also said in interviews that the fast times should be expected later, perhaps in Lausanne or Poland.
Did Jakob get amputated or something?
bro closed his last 700 meters at 1:49 pace. Despite the pace starting at 1:51 high

1:50 intervals in a step down practice will do that to a guy.

He is going to run 3:24-3:25 this season!
Would you be willing to wager on this?? I will happily take the other side of that bet. Loser has to start "I was wrong about Jakob" thread and apologize.

It's #6 all time, that isn't the knock you think it is.

I don't think Monaco track makes such a big difference. I would say maybe 0,5-1sec faster than others tracks for the 1500. That's enough to make athletes try a PB everytime there. That's why we always see super fast times (to be considered also that monaco is late in the season, close to championships) so athletes are in peak shape.
When they do try a PB on other tracks, it's almost as good as in Monaco, but often they don't try as hard because they think "my shape will be better later" or "there is Monaco for that".
That was two completely different races:
One, Jakob running for first
Two, The field pacesetting off Jacob running for second.
He is a great champion. And will be one of the best of all time.

Reminder: 1500m world record pace is 1:49.xx 1st 800m (1:49.8) and last 700m 96.1 which is 1:49.8 800m pace.

He increased the pace from 1100-1400 then put 10 meters in Katir the last 100m. Plenty in the tank. He gonna run much faster.

Didn’t you say he peaked in a thread before Paris?
Stupid thread as usual! yep you remind me of this movie Tropic Thunder "Never go full _________ "
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this his 1500m season opener?
How many 1500m runners would expect to run their fastest time in the first race of the season?
I always thought you needed a few races to sharpen up for the middle-distances.
