Timothy C may have done the right thing this year. Boosting his capacity - his first ever 3000 at 7.36.72. And 800 1.44.99. Perfect conditions. Jakob has to run very fast if he wants to beat Timothy C. We will se a lot of PBs under or close to 3:30.
Incredible field and hard to imagine the Budapest final will be much better. Sure, Wightman, Cheruiyot JR, or another top American are missing, but this is a remarkable assembly of talent. We know that Tim and Katir are super fit, and Yared and Olli are very fit, but after Paris, it’s foolish to think anybody is going to beat Jakob. Jakob says the Bislet track is slow, sort of….
Jakob: 3:28.20.
Jakob leads from 800 and in the end, it’s not close. The others fight it out down the stretch.
Katir: 3:29.20
Yared: 3:29.50
Tim: 3:29.70
Several others under 3:31-3:32.
Believe it or not, I was gonna say:
1. Jakob 3:28.20
2. Nuguse 3:29.47
3. Katir 3:29.60
4. Cheruiyot 3:30.07
Nice!! Ok, I’ve been very impressed with Katir, especially after Florence and that instagram comeback (😉)….let’s see. I think Jakob cannot lose, but after that, it’s a bit murky.
How wise can you be and think that? Remember Jakob showed he can run like Komen but not Hicham. Certainly not yet.
He can do both, and don’t forget to throw in Bekele/Cheptegei. No Jakob is leveling up this year, so sit back, relax and enjoy the show.
The Tuohy fans told me could not be beaten either. I remain skeptical regarding anyone being unbeatable. That is one reason why I enjoy races. Not really knowing the outcome for sure.
I hope you spend a night without a sleep Thursday after publication of the results just for title of the thread.
???
Wejo is more likely to spend a night without sleep wondering wha the hell your post means.
It’s a rare post by him that I’m actually able to decipher. He means shame on wejo for not including his homeboy Katir in the thread title. Wejo then implied he considers Katir one of the four favorites in the OP. This is an American-based website and Nuguse, Hoare, and Kerr all competed in the NCAA, which might explain why they’re in the title and Katir is not.

It’s not that much fun to predict the outcome after the race. Who do you have beating Jakob? Just saying he could lose is not very enlightening, though of course that’s accurate. He could lose, but he won’t….all summer.

I said it in the second post. I like a guy who ran 1:44.99 and 3:31.47 this year. I like him because he should have the advantage of being the hunter. Now the prey is no doubt elusive here. We shall see.

Considering what Jakob ran last week in Paris, I’m surprised by these conservative predictions. According to the World Athletics scoring tables, his 7:54.10 2-mile is roughly equivalent to a 3:25.91. Plus wasn’t this race changed from a mile to a 1500 so he could run a really fast time in the shorter distance? I think he runs 3:27 or better.

Yeah I figured it out too after a second painful reading and you nailed it. Katir is tarnished here, fairly or not, but not so much for his performances as for his appearance of being tainted and maybe for some other reasons. He is a great runner but he has been operating in the shadow of Jakob for sure. As for the poster who has a crush on him, Katir is great but the poster’s crush blinds him too and since we don’t have the crush on him we see him as imperfect, like the rest.
