People love to either qualify or disqualify the results of an objective win or loss with a narrative that suits their biases and prejudices. My favorite example of this is in the college football world. "Ohio State would be undefeated if they hadn't lost those two games."
5th in the Olympics where almost everybody went out too fast - so he’d have done far worse in a normal one - and he acts like he’s an expert on training. Now he’s a complete hobbyjogger
Nick Symmonds really annoys me but this is a weird criticism. Is Dave Wottle’s gold invalidated because everyone else went out too fast?
And then of course Centro's gold is invalid because everyone went out too slow. Results are only valid when everyone goes out at just the right pace.
If I had to put an asterisk on either, I’d put the asterisk on Centro’s before Symmonds. In Symmonds people weren’t holding back, they went for it. In Centro’s people were definitely holding back for parts of the race

Centro got lucky.
Centro orchestrated the race with a plan and the other competitors took the bait. His race plan was executed to perfection. I don't see how that's luck
I saw the video and I think Nick has a good personality. He wasn't combative at all with the Planet Fitness guy despite that guy having an aggressive attitude.
The planet fitness guy may have had a point initially, but he showed his true colours when he started getting even more angry after he accused Nick of 'stealing his customers'.
If he had a more open mind, he could have seen Nick in a positive light and as someone who could potentially drive more traffic to his location.
Lol some of you really can't stand to see others more successful than you can you? Centro has a gold medal, Nick has a 1:42 PR and has fun running a business and YouTube channel. Must suck knowing they're living their best lives and all you guys can do is post anonymous messages dogging them
Hate to be that guy but this video strikes me as fake. Back in the mid 2010s people used to do “prank” videos and hire actors to be the ones that were actually getting pranked. I’m suspicious about the cops and the gym “manager” they just strike me as actors.

It's certainly not luck that Centro was the best 400m runner that day, but he was lucky that no one else decided to push the pace. How often does the 3:50 "plan" work?

1st - 8th in that event ran: WR, WJR + NR, PR, PR, PR, NR + PR, SB, PR
Literally the only one who went out too fast was Kaki. Everyone else ran about the best possible race they could given the circumstances. More than half the field set their lifetime bests. It was the single most competitive 800m final in history.
