The Lakers staged a huge comeback and Anthony Davis and Lebron had great games, 40-10 with 2 blocks for Davis (add pts/reb/asst/steal/blocks=59?) and nearly a 26 pt triple double for Lebron who missed a key 3 to tie it in the last minute. Jokic went cold in the fourth quarter with, I think, no points until hitting 3 free throws in the last minute to seal it. When I saw the Lakers had cut the lead to ten with about 8 minutes left and the win % for the nuggets was supposed to be 98% I was very skeptical. In the NBA, leads like that, especially in the playoffs, are not safe. Overall, though Jokic had a monster game, 34-21 with 14 assists (30-20 games alone are rare, let alone 30-20 triple doubles with 14 assists), and a 71 counting pts reb asst steal and blocks. All three of the stars shot a high percentage as well. The Lakers now know they can play but it'll be deflating to come so far back and then fall short. If they take game two in Denver, they'll have a great shot at winning, but about as many things went well as could for them and they still lost, so I expect Denver to take game two and the series in six.
I have noticed that this isn't really true anymore. I think it has to do with the fact that even the bigs can hit their freethrows.
It made sense 20 years ago to foul a lot of these guys with 49 seconds on the clock, they missed the freethrows and then you got another possession; but now? Now everyone hits. So if you foul, the other team just gets two points (it seems).
I think the ends of games have however become three point shooting contests for the team that is down, but I like that. That is better than the fouling.
I sort of hope the Nuggets win the series but I just slapped down 25k on the Lakers to win the series after the game 1 loss. You know the league wants LeBron in another finals. Lakers/Celtics historic rivalry. The nba gets what it wants.
The LA cope narrative is that the Lakers really figured out something with Rui Hachimura guarding Jokic in the 4th quarter and NOW the Nuggets are in big trouble.
The Nuggets won 50% of their games exactly like they did last night: Blow out a team early, get bored and let them back into the game, and then beat them again in crunch time. If AD can't guard Jokic, it's safe to assume that Hachimura won't be able to either. The Nuggets will adjust and the Lakers will have to come up with a different approach on the fly during game 2.
AD had 40 points. Lebron had a triple double. Reaves was hot from 3. And they still lost. Nuggets might win this in 5.
I said it before and I'll say it again. It's rigged garbage. I'll be very surprised if the league lets Denver win this series. It's happened time and again over the years that the Lakers get many many favorable calls and sneak into the finals. Wake up and smell the wcw/wwf style fake bs that pro sports have become.
They shot essentially equal percentages. More realistic for Denver to maintain than the Lakers. The Lakers 2nd best player is the worst 3 point shooter left in the playoffs

How much money do you have? You hope the Nuggets win but you bet $25,000 on the Lakers? Wow.
Rojo, you obviously don't pay attention to this message board. Steve lives in a fantasy world.
