The predictions are just dumb... 1430? 430 last mile? And then when people are shown to be living in fantasyland they just move on to the next thread...
Ooops - yes you are correct, I missed the 1500 record set enroute to the mile record indoors. It’s just so frustrating to see someone doing such an incredible job and have it called disappointing and a failure. WTF???
No, I've got the record because one day in college when I was identifying as a female I ran sub 15 on some track somewhere. It's just not in the books yet.
That took every ounce of all Tuohy had to run that. Sorry but not ready for next level. She should stay in college and dominate but even that remains questionable as college runners adapting.
No, not amazing. Can we be honest? Most people would say that a failure to break 15 is a failure tonight. Touhy is held to a higher standard.
Failure seems harsh but I would say "B" Grade. She did not have a kick for the last two laps.
After Wake Forest and the Monti interview indicating 15:09 target I had a feeling she might not break 15 this race. She doesn't seem to quite have the spark from indoors. She bested both Galvan and Henes at Millrose but was 13 seconds behind them here which was surprising to me.

Well, in all fairness, it IS Tuohy herself that keeps mentioning the 4:30 (she even did in her interview tonight).
14:40 I believe from that other thread was based on a commonly accepted formula for top potential. (Although I think her potential was showing even faster than that).

She ended up mentioning in her interview after the race that she had a rough week coming into the meet.
Rough week and STILL obliterate the NCAA record. As a fan, I’ll take that!

You Tuohy superfans are the ones creating the unreasonable expectations (e.g. 14:40). Then when she runs 15:03 it seems like she had a bad race.
You can't be mad when some people think 15:03 is meh after you hyped the 14:40s.
My personal feelings are slightly surprised she didn't break 15 but how can anyone say something bad about an outdoor collegiate record?
I never said it was a bad race.
I’m even the one who predicted 14:40.
I’m also the one congratulating her on an amazing accomplishment by creating this thread.
No, the point was someone else said it was a meh race and then got jumped on because your highly optimistic predictions make 14:40s seem plausible. I think I recall during the cross country season in the Valby threads, lots of words about how Tuohy was already a sub 15 runner despite the reality of her PR. Then she runs 15:03 and people start seeing it as a disappointment, when it should be looked at as a 10+ second PR which is pretty huge for someone as developed as Tuohy.
I do believe she has lots of room to grow in the future but it's not reasonable to expect her to drop 30-40 second PRs at this point in her development.
Simpsaon ran that in February, amyways Tuohy has the rest of this season and 2 more if she wants or needs them, Will she be as good as Simpson? Time will tell, it always does
Yep. A very good night for her. 15:10 for example is a very significant barrier for a college runner the same way 4:10 is in the 1500. It is important psychologically to establish that you can break it.
