AverageForFun - The Twilight races look like a good option. After looking them up the wife and I are going to pencil in the first Philly one. Can't go wrong with a big base, I like to use the first half of summer to do some shorter races then the latter half for base but idk which is better. My wife also wants to do a weekly mileage PR, she said 100 and I think I convinced her to do back-to-back 100s to get a better feel for the mileage. The goggins/yeti ultra challange sounds fun. I can't imagine doing it outside of using vacation.

General Training Plan Discussion - After thinking about it some this week, my rough training plan is ~70mpw with
Hill sprints 1-2x per week (8x10s), Strides 1-2x per week,
Weekly tempo rotating between short (20min) long (40min) and broken (3x2mi),
A moderately paced LR (13-16 mile at mid 6 to low 7 pace),
A second workout which is my main variable. I'd like to race well at 6/18 1mi, 6/23 5k, 8/10 1mi and to a lesser extent a 6/3 5M. If I start hard speed workouts or VO2max type workouts right away I'd probably get burnt out (get better then get worse) by the those races. I'm thinking of keeping the second workout as lighter speed work(16x30s hill reps, 200s @ 3k/5k) or more CV/tempo until the week of 5/29, then do 3-4 weeks of weekly VO2max (800-1000s @ 5k) then maybe 2-3 weeks of weekly speed work (200s-600s @ quicker than mile to just slower than mile) and find a 5k or 1mi race in mid July.
Any thoughts?
