I thought 8:30 would be about right for his first run out. 8:42 is pretty poor. It just seems to be a weird move for him. He was a fraction outside the world standard with his indoor mile. I don't see why he doesn't put all his eggs in the 1500 basket. He needs to back himself, he can definitely make the standard, especially if he can get Hoare and Nuguse to help him out. He certainly isn't going to the steeple out of any real interest in the event, it's just a scheme to make World's and he hasn't really got time to get better at the event. It's worth listening to Make Rowland on this, he's the former OTC coach and Olympic silver medallist in the steeple. He says his biggest gains came by working with proper hurdle coaches - who is doing that for Beamish within OAC?
