Not enough info.
Is there a door into the garage other than the garage door? Force it.
If there is nothing other than the garage door, call a garage door company.
Or better, like someone else said, call your realtor or the previous owner.

Call Al Cantello
I have a good friend who was locked into her garage for several hours on a very hot day. The opener had stopped working so they were opening and closing by hand. Well, the spring broke with her inside and she was no match for lifting the door without the spring’s assistance. This was before cell phones and nobody heard her yelling for help. Her husband eventually came home and they lifted the door together to get her out.
They also contracted for an alternate exit - which is something I would do if in your shoes. Who wants to open and close the garage door every time you need to grab something from inside?
Crawl through the little doggie door - duh!

Uh, let's just be clear: rOjO went' to Princeton - but the point stands.
Previous owner might still have the garage door programmed in his or her car
Here's what you do:
1) Call jamin and get him there
2) You two figure out how to open the garage
3) You lock jamin in the said garage
4) There is no step 4
thank you for listening
I love that your way of dealing with this this situation was to seek help on letsrun.
start with the keypad. Does the keypad have a battery? replace the battery and see if that is the issue.
Get a crowbar. Use it to pull up from the bottom of the garage door to make just enough room to put your hands underneath. Go into a crouching position and with all your strength pull the door up and open. Be sure your wife and kids are there to watch the man of the house get the job done by using brute force. They will love and appreciate you all the more.
might just be a dead battery in the keypad

For the cheapest solution, drill out the lock and replace the lock assembly or core afterwards.
For most elegant solution, call a locksmith, they will open it and replace the core.
The first solution will save money (likely) but will require work. What is your time worth to you?
This is what I’d try. Looks like a new keyed release assembly would be like 15-20 dollars. You might break a couple of drill bits, so that’s what? Another $10. So for $25 or $30 you either get the satisfaction of solving your own problem, or you just delay the locksmith call and at least you tried.
also, have you tried just tripping the release with a wire hanger inserted at the top of the door?

This is the most correct answer, but my favorite answer was the one about starting another doping poll.
This trolling is too flagrant. Hourse in the first couple lines.
What are you going to do, sit on your steps until a magic solution emerges from LRC?!
You’ll need a stepladder and a crowbar (or similar implement) for this:
1) Slide the crowbar under the garage door and pry it up as far as you can. You will not be able to get the door up far enough to crawl under, but…
2) Climb atop the stepladder, reach into the space that’s now been created where the door has rolled back slightly from the top, and manually disengage the automatic system’s chain that raises and lowers the door. Voila, you’re in.
THIS is the answer in my experience. Realtors are motivated to be problem solvers and get good rep. They can and should call seller and get the code for FREE. I really think its that easy.
When you say not working, does the keypad at least light up? You may have to reseat/replace the battery.

Did you leave Baltimore?
