They ARE the reason for fast tracks. Cheptegei has never gone within 20 seconds of his world record before or after. Grant without the Sound TEN would've been around 27:00.
Stop pretending shoes don't do nothing. Just admit, the runners of before are hard and the runners of today sold their dignity just for the illusion of being fast.
One would think the fitting scold would be that runners of today are “soft” because it’s now unclear if the runners of before also sold their dignity or not, sort of like ambiguously saying that the people supporting the Shîtballs party are Neanderthals while the supporters of the Boozecrap party like to enjoy potato salad.

Are you really going to tell me Grant Fisher's 26:33 10K is superior to Zersenay Tadese 26:37 10K?
Tadese did it in August. Grant's Sound TEN was delayed a day for weather reasons in March.
Grant's 5K pr (Indoor or Outdoor) are time-wise faster than Tadese's 12:59.
So Zersenay certainly was a much more strength-based runner and didn't rely on such artificial conditions to hit a time Grant needed the stars to align to create.
Today's runners are soft. They have so much advantages needed to create a time that doesn't even hit the World Records of Before.
