Not the perfect setup but with a gun to my head and perfect setup I think I'd fail.

I'm 55 and regularly do 35-50 pull-ups every other day in sets of course. The best exercise I have found is single arm bent over rows. Go buy 20lb 25lb and 30lb dumbbells you can also do other exercises with these. By the way start doing sets of pushups. Start with 4x10 w/90 seconds rest.
