A 5k is 12.5 laps you dunces. Of course he runs 1 minute in the last lap because in order to break 13 in the first place you have to run 1 minute per lap. 12:59/12.5=1:02 it's not rocket science.
62 and 60 are a lot different. That's a 4:00 vs a 4:08.
"Ritzenhein passed a few more, and a few more, until with 800m to go he needed "only" a 2:02 to run 12:58. It all happened so quickly. From being dropped off the pack to breaking one of the most celebrated American distance records of all-time. Ritz was charging. Not only was he threatening 13:00, the American record and Craig Mottram's relatively new non-African standard, he was threatening the race leaders. While Bekele was running 63-second quarters, Ritzenhein broke 60 seconds on his penultimate lap (well, he came close at least). 11:56 at the bell and Ritzenhein's dreams were coming true."
Letsrun thinks 60 at 13 minutes isn't a fast finish but a 61 at 15 mi uses is a great kick. Ritz could have run 55 to finish if he ran 13:30.

For his sub 13 Ritz hits the bell at 11:55.9-11:56.0
He finishes officially in 12:56.27 so about a 60 sec lap. Bekele Hit the bell in 11:52.8 and finished in 12:52.2 or so. That's a 59.8 last lap. Ritz displayed excellent finishing speed for the level he ran at.
Race starts at 1:10:54
Also ran 2:01 for his last 800 and probably 3:02 for his last 1200. I wonder what his final 1600 was?

Ritzenhein also ran the fastest final 4 laps in the field. Faster than Bekele.
Shouldn't everyone be speculating that she is doping? Or in the world of the letsrun haters you get left alone if your father was a famous distance runner and it is more fun to bust on your dad?
Why would we speculate that she's doping when her Dad won footlocker twice and her Mom was a good runner too.
If I could pick my parents for running it would've been them.

Will she get more Footlocker East Bay wins than her kickless dad?
Not sure if it's mentioned but Addison's mother was a footlocker finalist and a Colorado XC and track alum too. Maybe she had a kick.
Her arm carry and running stride are very reminiscent of Nuguse.
note: I’m not saying that Yared is her actual biological father. I’m saying that she runs in a similarly smooth manner to YN.

You sound like a big pos for sh!!+ing on dathan. Big talk for someone that would be too afraid to say anything to his daughters face.

Kind of looks like Ritz back in 2000
Ritz seems to be a better coach than he was a runner, which is saying a lot.
I love the pain on ritz’s face after. And the fact he was sucking wind. Shows how hard he pushed. Contrast that with bekele who didn’t seem tired. Ritz remains my favorite runner ever.
She didn't kick so much as that other chick absolutely rigored...
A kick is a sudden shift in pace that blows the competition to dust. Addison geared up slowly and the girl in front had a piano dropped on her. Father and daughter have the same gear-up style.

Another HS girl wins a race. Not impressed. 5:08 isn’t exactly a top time in HS track.
