Actually very disappointing if she is going ultra route. What a waste. We all got to make a living but she had so much promise. I really thought she be running sub 15 5000 at least by now.
She would likely be doing sub-ultra mountain racing like Grayson Murphy. With her credentials and eating disorder this would be a healthy and appropriate move. She could probably wear whatever she wants if she continues doing any track/road.
Contracts from the big companies probably have more requirements to compete and hit standards - more pressure, more betting on yourself - with the eating and injury issues this is a way safer bet. this is probably less upside but more consistent guarantee and she seems to enjoy different things. doing some videos of trail running ect won’t be that big of a deal
The amount of training volume required to runs Ultras is not a good move, if it is true. She will be way more susceptible to injuries. I can see her running a Marathon at some point if she stays healthy.
Sub ultra.... Sub ultra. I know it's a hard concept to grasp but there are trail races out the that are not ultras. E.g., mount marathon, cirque series, zegama, etc.
Unless she is switching to sub ultra trail racing full time this seems like a weird move by NNormal
I agree. NNormal doesn't make a road shoe, let alone a carbon plated road shoe for racing or a track shoe for steeple or other races. As well, their whole shtick is not needing multiple pairs of shoes, but every single run she currently does (track and road) she would not be able to do in a pair of NNormal. I guess she could wear them to the gym or when she does the mountain race in Seward Alaska, but the rest of her running (95% of it) will be done in other brands.
Maybe they have a road prototype that Allie will wear. The trail shoe isn't so luggy that it couldn't be worn on the roads, but it would only be as good as a typical lightweight trainer.
Does this signing mean she’s moving completely away from track racing? I’m so confused by this move. Much of her content for months has been her on the track doing workouts, seeming to get into great shape for track/road racing. Why do all that type of work just to go to trail racing? Looked like she was potentially ready to set some PRs on the track.

Thanks for clarification .....I hope they produce a Road worthy shoe for her in her upcoming road races ....Gate River Run 15K 1st weekend in March. The shoes they show on their website are all trail shoes.

I was wondering if that was happening too. However, it won't be any good. Sorry, I do really like Emily and Kilian and the whole idea of their shoe, but, just look at how crap Salomon's road shoe is.
And, perhaps I'm the only one who thinks Allie is young enough and has enough talent to think about making an Olympic team still, but to do so she will need to focus on a type of training that is not trail running. She will also need a track shoe. But maybe she doesn't want to go to the Olympics, I do think she needs to do what is makes her happy.
Probably been said, or maybe I'm really just an outlier, but NNormal sounds like the perfect name for an athletic team that is totally cool with doping.
"Not normal" has a very specific meaning when it comes to endurance sport.

With the current crop of US women’s distance runners, it is pretty unlikely that sub-15 5k fitness on its own is enough to contend for a team, especially since Allie has never been known as much of a kicker. Obviously she grew up in Alaska and is very familiar with trail running, so it’s reasonable to expect she could have a better, less-injured, or at least more enjoyable career in sub-ultras than on the track/road
Allie: "Hey Spencer, can you get a real job or get sponsored so you can bring home some real money?"
Spencer: "Sorry, too busy running 5:20 pace repeats, playing disc golf and eating enough slop to hit 3000 calories a day."
Allie: "Fine, I'll do it myself."
Hey NYPost, the only way you would know what pace he runs, what games he likes to play or how many calories he eats, is if you watch his videos, so, you are in fact paying his salary. You apparently love his channel so I'm sure he thanks you for being such a loyal viewer.
Man, always amusing seeing LRC posters knowledge of the running world at large dwindle when the themes drift from NCAA and a handful of USA brands and athletes.
I kinda doubt they will produce a road shoe, but maybe. All of their branding is focused on trail so I would be surprised if they were going to branch out already considering how small they still are. But who knows.
