You're right. Kratochvilova's legacy is that she'll be remembered as one of the biggest drug cheats of all time.
I still remember that 47.99 from '83 and even crazier was that record being broken in the fall of 1985 by Marita Koch from the GDR in 47.60--both times are absurd!

After 40 years of lying about her drug use do you really think she is going to start telling the truth now?
She and Koch will stick with that lie for the rest of their lives.

Surely you are aware that there was no out of competition drug testing until 1989, which allowed the female world record setters 1988 and before to use the strongest drugs possible, no matter how long the drugs stayed in their system.
I hope you aren't that clueless.
I would actually be less surprised if in Kratochvilova's case she was actually a DSD athlete with XY chromosomes and femal genitalia. In other words a precursor of Semenya. They even had very similar running styles. If that were the case then maybe she didn't need to do steroids and wasn't a drug cheat!?

She competed during the era that had mandatory chromosome tests (those were abolished in 1996). So it is highly unlikely she had any DSD.

Yeup. How come the drugs were so much better in the 80s?
Easy to detect now plus they have to take in lower doses use less effective but more difficult to detect drugs and come off them when they are entering there genuine wherabouts. Dopers give fake wherabouts for glowing periods then clean up inbetween
"It was nice that it lasted so long. However, I'm quite happy that a European made it," Kratochvílová responded to the Sport daily and the iSport.cz website. "On the other hand, I've been watching her for quite some time, she's an exceptional girl who has the makings. I always say that every now and then an exceptional person is born who can perform exceptionally."
Femke definitely has the makings.
I'd go even further and say Femke is "an exceptional girl who has the makings."

That LA Times La La times article is outstanding. I googled some photos of Jarmila because I am not familiar with her, and while I am hesitant to comment based only on photos, I encourage other to take a look at some images and video. She appears to be more jacked than the majority of male runners.
Jarmila Kratochvilova of Czechoslovakia running in the women's 400 metres event during the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki, Finland, circa August 1983.
