Thanks for linking - at least I now know to take Shiraz.
Agree with Haas about it being gimmicky though. And I’ve been to Bathurst more times than I care to recall so maybe that’s why I’m like “Bathurst? Really..?”
Bathurst is also very redneck. Think West Virgina.
It has a lot of backwards looking and thinking people who won't be pleased to see athletes from a variety of nations coming to the city. They will not be welcomed in the same way they would be throughout the rest of Australia.
There are at least 120 better places in Australia to hold this event.
Good article but the course looks stupid. It’s insanely hilly, has a mud and sand pit, and has obstacles intentionally placed to make it slower. Why can’t they host it at Van Cortlandt? That’d be a tough but fair course.

Van Cortlandt is not a tough course at all.
On the course this morning. As Jono said not as difficult as Aarhus but the heat will make this and even more difficult day. Could get a cracking thunderstorm during men's race.
Jonathan and I were talking the other day about legacy building. Who has the most to gain by winning World xc? Cheptegei, who could end up as the GOAT, certainly is someone.

I do not believe JC could end up as the GOAT. He turns 27 in September and I just don’t think he will have the global medals to have that kind of status. His records will likely be broken in the next decade also. Now of course if he has some bizarre Kipchoge marathon career, then all bets are off.

He could win Olympic Marathon at least once and have golds from all XC, track, marathon.

Organisers are worried about the heat effect, rescheduling Masters races. Forecast is 90F for the 5:30pm start of the Women's race with possible thunderstorms. I'm expecting a lot of blow-ups, DNFs.
