Having a wife who was a runner, and a sister who is a runner, has probably made me more sensitive to the issue.
If possible, I'll pass on the opposite side of the street (I'm generally running on the road). If not I'll generally do the "runner coming through" or "coming by on the right" thing.
What does amaze me though is the numbers of people (and particularly women, in this context) who are running with headphones, making it totally impossible to give them an advanced warning.
