Here's something even more crazy to me than her smashing the collegiate record by 6 seconds. Prior to this race, Tuohy's best time in the 3000 was an 8:54.17 that she ran on December 4, 2021. She just lowered her PR in this by almost 20 seconds! Shows how she is on a totally different level than she was in the indoor season from just a year ago.
i think whats also impressive is how CALM she was during the race, she was in like 8th in the first few laps, just slowly climbed and passed runner after runner smoothly
the crowd lost it when she passed elly henes and then elise cranny hahaha they were absolutely screaming !! i mean, well its her home track !!
It was funny! For awhile there, even the camera crew was following TUOHY instead of Monson who was 10 seconds ahead!

the coverage was pretty good, they showed both first pack and second pack .. then the crazy thing happened,,, the second pack runners passed the first pack runners except for the leader

another week, another groundbreaking performance by Katelyn Tuohy.
Elise Cranny, besides being a US champion and Olympian, was a high school prodigy in her own right. And Katelyn just took her down.
Since we spend a lot of time talking about where girls went wrong, just want to reflect on the things that went right with Katelyn.
--She stuck with her high school coaches, didn't have private coaches. Her coaches encouraged her to run and do LESS.
--She was an unapologetic team player. She always turned her focus outward to team accomplishments. Her teammates seem to get along with her and rally around her.
--she didn't start running until middle school.
--She is a very very hard worker.
--She doesn't engage too much with social media.
--She has a coach who threw away dexa body scans and focused on performance.
--She chose college over pros and to be with people her own age.
