I forgot Jakob was going for the 3k WR there. This could get interesting! Maybe he stays in Europe and races the 1500m the next weekend with Nuguse/Romo. He's not confirmed for The TEN yet.
Is Jakob still going for the WR? He seemed to have some setbacks and pulled out of some things this winter
Correct. He's not going for WR/racing in France. He may not run indoors at all. Maybe Euros, but probably not.
Interesting, I wonder why a shoe company doesn't just host a meet here. The track is faster than the Armory or the new NB track + it's defintiely more open and spectator friendly than the Armory.
There is no BU last chance meet this year. The final indoor meet at BU is this weekend's David Hemery Valentine Invite.
Doubt very much Grant will miss The TEN . . . this is where he will get his 10k Q for Paris next year.
Fisher is doing the 3k in France. Heard he is in the 1500m in Spain, the 10k in California is highly unlikely.
Testing himself in Europe and having fun at those distances will be good for him then it’s all about the World Championships.
I hope this signifies a change with Fisher (and BTC as a whole). He was exceptional in the Diamond League at the end of last season, and I think racing against the top dogs more often will help his medal chances.

I think Fisher is probably just at the level of Ahmed now, meaning there's not really anyone to compete with unless he goes to Europe, he's already in world class shape (there's no threat of him missing a US team), and he'll gain more from racing against the heavy hitters than anything else. Ahmed has been there for a few years, which is why he's done more international racing than the rest of BTC.
I like the diversity of the meets this weekend a lot and hope this continues.
After Grant’s last year, he deserves to go mix it up with the big boys and get more of that experience.
Elise and Cooper are both US Champs and are going where all the top US pros are this weekend.
I assume Sean is building up for the ten, as it’s the team he is probably vying for this yeas/next year, so a 5k makes sense.
I’m wondering if Evan might also be running the ten and wants to do a shorter effort. Last year he had to drop out of it. I assume him and Ratcliffe will pace part of the 5k?
There are reasons for some people to compete and some people to chase times.

Change…? What change?
Covid changed things for everyone. Fisher broke into the big leagues in Tokyo 2021, went to Europe and packed it in as he was tired and banged up from the Olympics. Prior to that, he wasn’t on the radar and would not have gotten invited to big meets in Europe.
Understand how it works… You have to be invited to DL races. That requires previous world class marks.
Fishers 2022 is legendary, thus he was invited to DL races.
BTC, rightfully, has its sights set on the big races. 2021 it was the Olympics. They did more then most during Covid by having intra-club track races and posting them for fans. 2022, it was the World Championships, BTC athletes ran indoors and outdoors and made it to Worlds and some continued their season in Europe because they were invited. 2023 it is about the World Championships, indoors is not their priority yet they will have athletes racing in some races in the USA and in Europe.
Back to Fisher racing indoors in France and hopefully Spain - kick butt Grant!
Sam Atkin is in it after running 7:31 the other week. I don't see why he wouldn't be going for the 13:07 standard. McGorty may be going for the same. Not sure if he has any plans to go back to the steeple.
It’s a total power move that Fisher is blowing off Millrose to head to Europe. The Millrose 3000 is a super strong US based field, but it seems that it’s not strong enough for our best distance runner. Personally, I love that Fisher is flexing like this.

Maybe Fisher just wants to go to Europe (because he can) and have some fun racing a different crop of guys. Looks like he will do off distance in the 1500m in Madrid Spain.
It’s indoors, isn’t that a time to test oneself to see if training is going well and have fun. Sure the races he will be in will be fast and stacked. He could have done some races in the US but why not go to France and Spain? He isn’t flexing or snubbing US races. He is seizing his opportunities and gaining experience and having fun before the main focus (summer).

Or he doesn’t want to try to win the race from 1600-3000 with Teare and Grijalva waiting to attempt to outkick him? Granted, it’s indoors so leading isn’t so bad but Lieven is a much better spot for him to run fast without a target on his back.
I believe it’s as simple as this. Racing against the best in the world. That’s what will lead to a World Championship and Olympic medal. The best in the world doesn’t run Millrose anymore. He knows he has to put his neck on the line against Ingebrigsten. Plus it has been known for months that Jakob was going for the WR in the 3000 next week

Your thought is most likely not a thought at all for Grant.
