His publicised stats are likely all over the place due to how young he would have been when first measured+weighed. If Jakob is a legitimate 6 2 I believe it, exactly the same stats as Craig Mottram.
Reminds me of Ben Barrows, saying for running nutrition, you need to eat healthily, and eat plentifully. I think this may be unique to running, since because of the impact, you need to be more careful about recovery nutrition. Lance talked about going to bed hungry a lot to stay at a target weight, but that's a lot easier when you are doing a zero impact aerobic sport, and more critical with all the hill climbing those guys do.
Not a chance - 74kg is far more accurate. Watched him warm up at Prefontaine this year and he is a solid dude, especially in his lower body which really don't fit the "prototypical" distance runner "build" - definitely not compared to the majority of his contemporaries. He's actually interesting to watch jog at slower speed - almost looks a bit ungainly and awkward, but then of course is smooth perfection when he's at race speed.
The most important thing in running is consistency in training. The biggest reason for injuries and burnout are the lack of calories over time.
You would be surprise how much a guy like Jakob eats, his fiancé said that he eats two dinners each day. I would guess he eats like 4000-5000 calories every day.
The Norwegian triathletes eats a ton of junk as well to get in the necessary calories for their training. Their coach has stated that the limiting factor in triatlon is how many calories the body can process. More calories = more training.
Exactly! I remember a very good quote from Kristian Blummenfeldt & Gustav Idens coach Olav Aleksander Bu: "It all starts with calories, so energy expenditure and energy budgeting is where it starts. No speed without power, and no power without calories."
Jakob Ingebrigtsen is well known N/A. Here we mentioned Jakob Ingebrigtsen Wiki, Age, Wife, Girlfriend, Net Worth, Height, Birthdate, Father, Mother, Son, Daughter, and Biography.
He is very skinny for his frame and height. You ask an avg people and they will say he is way too skinny.
Ingebrigsten doesn’t look way too skinny, just skinny. Kipchoge looks way too skinny. Bekele doesn’t. Cheptegei is dangerously close to way too skinny.
Its light for a normal person, for a world class runner it's quite normal/on the heavier side I would say.
The point with this tread is not that Jakob is heavy. It's that people(letsrunners) tell you that you got to be sub 65kg's to be a world class runner from 5k and up. And that people on here would say to a 75kg guy that he needs to lose a lot of weight if he wants to run sub 2.40 in the marathon.
Just a side note: Jakob Ingebrigsten is the first non-african born runner to win a gold medal in the worlds or Olympics in the 5.000 since Dieter Baumann did it in 1993 (and he was from East-Germany, we know what that means...). People did not believe it was possible to compete with the africans at long-distance. Imagine what his success means to young non-african athletes.
This seems pretty reasonable to me. If we assume the highest weight and lowest height of 6’1 and 74 kg, I reckon he’s still extremely powerful and lean. He’s basically the same size as the guys with the top 3-10 min power relative to their body weight in cycling. For instance, van der poel is basically the same height at 75kg, and you’d be very hard pressed to not think the guy was extremely lean. There’s no great reason to believe you can’t be an elite middle distance runner at jakobs size
I met him in gym while he was training , took picture with him and my daughter, I guess back then he was 16 or 17 was training for european championship. Back then I m sure he had a little more body weight then now. Now at 6'2 and 70 kg he's perfect . Not big at all . BMI about 20 perfect . Comparison with kenyans runners doesn t mean anything. It depends a lot from the way the skeleton and pelvic bones are wide or big . And we know east africans runners in general can have very light and smaller skeletons, considering same body height, than white runners .
