Eh. Guys we’ve barely heard of ran 7:25 outdoors last year. OAC hits indoor pretty hard - Ritz believes in that.
To be fair, most non-Americans would have little reason to have heard of Nuguse and it's not an uncommon theme throughout history for relatively unknown runners from East Africa (or Burundi in the case of Thierry Ndikumwenayo) to burst onto the scene with a quick time like that.
Yeah fair just noting when people make comments on BU we have to reconcile 12:45 and 12:46 5,000m DL races last year and so on. Guys pretty much always can run same/faster outdoors in the right race.
Yeah for sure stunning for Sam Atkin. When you combine how fast some of these indoor tracks are, and the super spikes, records will just continue to fall. The indoor 5000m world record would be under 12:40 if they raced indoors in July.
Yared Nuguse runs 7:28.25 breaking the old US record of 7:30 set by Galen Rupp back in 2013. Meanwhile NAU's Drew Bosley breaks Yared Nuguse's NCAA 3k record...
It’s almost certain Nuguse is in sub-13 shape as well, I would think. It’s January 27th, but for now he’s the U.S. 1500 favorite.
All of you should know and realize that this is “the Boston bounce house track” ..?! It’s a great time and all ..blah blah, but please keep this 728 in perspective as to where it was set … no other track I know of is this stupid fast.
WTF. Who opens their season with 7:28? And 3 seconds ahead of second place? If he's challenged, he probably takes that to 7:26-27. He has to be odds on for sub-3:30 this year
Wow, stunning! 1500 looking spicy, the best event to watch year after year. Also, hard not to wonder what Komen would have ran in new tech spikes? 7:16?

People said that when Grant Fisher ran 12:53 there but then he ran his 26:33 outdoors 3 weeks later. It would be great to see Jakob run at BU and see what happens though.

Yeah, just like Fisher couldn’t replicate his 12:53i.
Galen Rupp should cherish his indoor 2 mile American Record - it’s all he has left.

Well maybe Galen still has the medals and the family? For now…
