I'm second cousins, once removed, with a lead singer from a famous '80s hair band. But I've never met him and didn't get any of the family rock-star genes, unfortunately. He took them all.

Fascinating. I'll have to bookmark this thread for possible reference. I wasn't going to bother responding but this makes me glad I did. Where did you find all this?
My ancestors were brought to this country against their will. After that no birth or death records were kept since we were considered chattel by most Americans. We do have birth records going back to my paternal and maternal grandmothers. That’s about it though. America: what a country.
My mother was a Daughter of the American Revolution. Her ancestors were among the earliest English settlers to America. Her family name was Brodhead. He was a captain of one of the earliest ships to come over from England.
Peter and Tom Farrell were my mother’s cousins. Olympic medalist and longtime Princeton women’s coach.
How can you trace it 1000 years?
My grandpa's cousin won a nobel prize in physics
Died the year I was born.
And I'm afraid I didn't inherit any signs of genius whatsoever
On my dad's side I am related to Red Sovine, an old country singer who was midly famous
Actually as I think about it, in the last 300 years it is probably one of my kids based on running in some national meets. The kid has even been mentioned on LR.
Lots of engineers, teachers, farmers, and dentists.
I am related to the actors Daniel Craig and Liam Neeson on my mother's side. Ironically, Liam Neeson once turned down the role of James Bond. Descended from Norman royalty on my father's side.
Probably Adam or Noah.
My great grandfather was the Lord Mayor of Dover,UK, Roland Eeckhoff. We visited him in 1960 while he was in office.
Your ancestors were slaves before being sent off to the Americas, enslaved by your own people, or enslaved by a nearby tribe of almost the same people, but here you are now, acting as if slavery were something unique to the USA and/or something done to your race by whites or something. You're welcome to go back "home," and spare us the sob stories used to milk the privileges/money out of others here.
George Mikan?
Was he the one who actually cut down the cherry tree?
My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low-grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a 15-year-old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize; he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes, he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament... My childhood was typical: summers in Rangoon... luge lessons... In the spring, we'd make meat helmets... When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds — pretty standard, really. At the age of 12, I received my first scribe. At the age of 14, a Zoroastrian named Vilmer ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum — it's breathtaking... I suggest you try it.
my family was involved in the trade. I feel a tiny bit guilty but basically nothing
