Has grice signed with adidas and joined VNTC now? I thought he was based in Britain and coached by someone over there
I hope this works out for Grice. He has talent but never performs in the meaningful races. The British 1500 team is currently the most competitive in the world so he's going to need to step up a lot to make it to a champs. His 3:30 seems like a long time ago
Those guys are probably all clean right now including the British cat who lost but regarding him he may be a doper when outdoor szn hits because the British really raise suspicion. Everyone else? Could very well be clean.
These are some of the stupidest comments on letsrun. The people who feel they need to point out that commenters aren't as fast as pros are incredibly annoying. Simply stating that this wasn't a PR for him is a useful comment.

He’s a real underdog to make it. Wightman having the bye does help a lot, but Gourley, Kerr and Heyward are rock-solid performers who have been in better form.

And after those three you have Matt Stonier who ran 3:32 at age 20 last year, Elliot Giles who also ran 3:32, and outsiders like Piers Copeland and George Mills. It will take something huge for Grice to even finish fifth in a British champs (or fourth since Wightman has already said he'll only do the 800 at the national champs). It's an uphill battle for him
Publicity is all well and good, but he got a big contract so it's hard to blame him.
This thought has been exhausted ad nauseum. Kessler ran 3 of the top U.S. U20 1500's last year and NOT in college, now he has 4 of top 5 of them..Fastest American U 20 1000M of all time.by over 1.5 seconds ...do people really think he would be getting more out of ANY College system..I think not. He just ran #9 All Time under 20 years old 1000M Indoor Mark. There is nothing in College for him, to think otherwise is simply foolish at this point.
Brandon Kidder broke the NCAA record with 2:18.26 as a 22-year-old college senior in 2016. Give 19-year-old Hobbs a few weeks and a more competitive field and he'd knock that down.
Side note. Is it just me, or does Hobbs tend to do well in two circumstances (a) He's the best athlete in the field and can hang and kick (b) He's got no expectations with a field of super-fast world beaters who drag him along to a fast time? It seems like he struggles to compete with a bunch of dudes who are right at or just above his level. Now, of course, some of those VNTC guys are quite good, so maybe this is an exception.

Pointing out every time it’s not a PR is incredibly stupid.

Honestly , i think Kessler can run that CR right now.
that wasnt the goal of what was essentially a training group TT.
I think his 3:34 set up dome unrealistic near term expectations
i think he ran like a really talented 19 yesr old lol
Merber and team is doing some video stuff i think out in Ann Arbor with VNTC

Yeah it’s a tough argument. You could argue NAU (altitude, great coach obviously), Washington (1500 stable/Powells), Stanford/Oregon (resources, stacked roster) , and Ole Miss as great places for Hobbs to be at last year. But it seems like last year was an adjustment year impacted by injury. Both things that hit college freshman with high regularity. Yeah being a 3:35-6 runner looks better from accolades in the NCAA than pro world, but ultimately he got a great contract and is in a good situation to succeed.

Its simply not a tough argument, in three years without even looking it up
only the savant will remember who even won NCAA titles
