BHV - Thanks for the input and heck of a treadmill flyer. The name of the film is ThePerfectRace. It is a recent Christian-based film. I really enjoyed how the technical elements were discussed in detail—splits, pacing, race philosophy, etc…all with specificity, which is very unlike a “normal” film. It seemed as if real runners made this film. McFarlandUSA, for example, is a film I like, but it is not runner-specific enough for me, even though the whole film is about running. In ThePerfectRace, I enjoyed how the main character, a female HS cross country coach, used a distance running model and applied it to the 800. The whole question of positive split vs. even split is spread throughout the entire film. And the manner in which a Christian message is interspersed and likened to running situations is really quite skillful. The whole “longer and stronger” and “finish fast” aspects of training, of course, really spoke to me (as one would expect) as well. And the film also covers the psychological aspects of both training and racing, which are near and dear to my heart (and I gather most here would know this). Love how the coach explains why we run in the rain.
Watched it on Tubi. Enjoy…
