I heard his name mentioned a number of times during the Kenyan 10K cross trials, but didn't see his distinctive look in the field. I'd like to see him back in cross-country; he was the junior world champ in Mombasa (in a runaway), and I always felt he had much talent beyond the middle distances, where he had a tendency to get tangled up and tactically outmaneuvered, even when he still ended up winning. (I'm not sure he has ever had the discipline to train hard for the 5,000m, however. Too bad. He may have been a once-in-a-generation talent.)
Still my favourite runner to watch to this day. Such a rare physique like was built in some mad scientist's lab to be the perfect runner. He'd started to slow and wasn't competitive enough to win any races or make the Kenyan team on merit the year he got popped, but had just announced a move up in distance. What a waste!
