His wife with him. I don't think anybody physically harmed him. At least that was not reported. But his gay brother says Qatar people or gov't killed him because he is pro gay and wore a gay shirt.
“My body finally broke down on me. Three weeks of little sleep, high stress and lots of work can do that to you,” Wahl wrote. “What had been a cold over the last 10 days turned into something more severe on the night of the USA-Netherlands game, and I could feel my upper chest take on a new level of pressure and discomfort. I didn’t have Covid (I test regularly here), but I went into the medical clinic at the main media center today, and they said I probably have bronchitis. They gave me a course of antibiotics and some heavy-duty cough syrup, and I’m already feeling a bit better just a few hours later. But still: No bueno.”

Geez it sounds like he was already having heart attack symptoms when he went to the medical clinic and they told him he probably has bronchitis. Did they even do any tests?? Upper chest pressure and discomfort doesn’t sound great in the days leading up to someone dying suddenly. I’m more curious if he was given proper medical care/tests, etc.
When he had been given CPR in the stadium why did they have him take an Uber to the hospital? It sounds odd, surely you would want an ambulance in that situation although I don't know much about Qatar.

Meanwhile he's getting tested, again and again and again for... COVID?
Shows you how myopic and insipid the dialogue over "public health" has gotten when THAT was his primary concern, rather than heart trouble, pneumonia, extreme stress if he's working so much etc.
Sad event, cardiology would have helped much more than epidemiology but who wants to admit that?
