Why are all the doping posts getting downvoted to oblivion? I think a lot of shotgun accusations are generally dumb too but we're talking about Genzebe Dibaba here. She was literally staying in the hotel in Sadabell when her coach and physio was busted with mountains of EPO and anabolic steroids. Dibaba is about as surefire a Doper as you can get without a positive test or getting caught with a syringe sticking out of her arm.
Agreed - she should have been banned for life as well as everyone else in that group. Radcliffe should had been banned as well with all those dodgy blood scores swept under the carpet for years by the IAAF. The reality is that the Sport's governing bodies do not really care about doping as the bottom line is what is most important for them. It makes more sense when you view the Sport from this perspective.
You cannot ban people by guilt of association. Only if they test positive. If that were the case all the women at BTC should have been banned because Houlihan tested positive.
Wow! Much better than expected for both women. If the time holds, Ayana breaks Y^2's marathon debut record by 1 second. Expect them to both be contenders at majors, and Ayana in particular has to have a shot at the WR now at her next races.
This was with a very conservative 69:25 first half too!
You have to remember that the marathon on both sides is still really untapped in terms of performance depth.
On the men’s side, a pseudo-washed Bekele ran 2:01:41. A prime Bekele probably runs 2:00:20 with no gimmicky pacing.
On the women’s side, once a lot of the 14:20 5k women start running the marathon, we’ll see tons of 2:14s like we just saw last week.
A prime Bekele will more likely DNF. But he has been finishing his last few marathons and not just walking off!
Amsterdam Marathon 2022. Both Almaz Ayana and Genzebe Dibaba made their marathon debuts in this race. Running together the first half of the race the pace in...

These threads are becoming ridiculous. To suggest that 2.14 is doped for a woman is ""discriminatory or bigoted", and a post saying as much must therefore be removed, means no performance can be the subject of speculation. Yet threads containing doping claims continue to abound. What makes 2.14 sacrosanct?

low 3:5x 1500m, low 14:xx 5000m, low 29:xx 10000m and sub-2:13 female Marathon all make sense. Math can be your friend.

I would suggest that none of those benchmarks can be taken as a given that they are clean. I would say they are not. Doping would not be - and is not - confined to the marathon. A further factor that suggests doping is the way that it is increasingly becoming routine now that athletes are showing a wider and wider range. Doping for endurance enables that.
You may have seen me post this fact: The percentage pace change from 400m dash to 800m is roughly equal percentage pace change from 3000m to 1/2 Marathon. Please note: This will not work for college kids and hobby jogger logging very low mileage.
As I stated earlier, most elite 1500m runners have not tried to race Marathon seriously. I remember circa 1997 Seb Coe raced Twin Cities Marathon in 2:50. Most 1500m gals and guys empty the tank emotionally and physically. There have been other 1500m Olympic medalists to race Marathon, but most race it as did S. Coe or slower.
Too many in running community have been caught up in bro science of human muscle twitch ratio. Too many in our community believe 1500m athletes cannot race Marathon well. I don't know why? We know Lon Myers was great for his time 100 yards to one mile. We know Paavo Nurmi was great for his time 1500m to 10000m.
In T&F we cannot do proper scientific studies. We cannot take 10000 sub-3:35 24 year old 1500m men and train them for Marathon and see if they perform better than 10000 sub-2:08 Marathoners with 1500m times 3:33 to 3:53. Most good 1500m runners will race 1500m until they are no good anymore or a few will move up to 5000m like Jim Spivey. We just don't know about 1500m athletes and Marathon. Not knowing does not equal P.E.D. use.

We don't know, as you say, because athletes choose not to run distances they aren't good at. But when they get good at everything that's a red flag.
You are correct for once. These threads are becoming ridiculous when you go into every single one of them, polluting them with your butthurt accusations and lack of knowledge. You could voice your suspicions once and then stay on topic, but no, you are like herpes, you keep coming back and your presence is useless and annoying. You add nothing to the discussion. Ever. This thread was about the results of those two athletes, not about your suspicions. Voice them once and then leave if you have nothing to talk about regarding the thread subject. But you can't, your narcissistic ego makes you post over and over again, until someone replies. You spend hours on lrc every day. Last thing you do before sleeping, first thing when you wake up. Narcissism is a really serious illness but that doesn't give you a free pass to be lrc's herpes simplex.

thank you - could not have been said better. The guy is a cancer on this board. That the brojo's don't silence him permanently, says all you need to know about their integrity.

Nope. Your entire premise on which you have based countless thousands of posts is fundamentally flawed.
They aren't using more energy to run faster times, they are using less energy. They are more energy efficient.

At least you've made it clear how you view opinions you don't like - they should be "silenced permanently".

That's what doping enables. You're halfway there - you'll catch on eventually.
